There will be jump scares like signs suddenly appearing, saying horrifying things like "There are only two sexes" or "Boys can't get pregnant" or "Not all religions and beliefs have equal worth; some are objectively better than others". There will also be anti-dilation zones, where you have to complete objectives in a limited time or your character's gash will naturally heal and you'll need to pay thousands to a surgeon to have it opened again. Terrifying stuff!
Another impending W for Resident Evil fans over Silent Hill fans, it would seem. Around the same time that this article dropped, so did an interview with the RE4 remake's producer where it seems (in line with previous interviews and the trailers/gameplay shown so far) that Capcom has actually listened to the heavy backlash against their cutting content & changing things for the worse in the RE3 remake. Can't archive it properly atm but scans of the interview are pinned to the front page of the Resident Evil subreddit.
Which I gotta give Capcom credit for. And It's not like they cut content from the RE3 Remake because of "modern sensibilities" or anything, it was a budget release so it does make sense why they cut areas that would of required far more development time and assets. And it does seem they have taken the feedback and backlash to heart. I mean you look at the developement of RE7 after the backlash of the more action blockbuster that was 6 and they definitely listened there.
The biggest worry I have is during the whole reveal shindig, they used the phrase "Stay Faithful" like a dozen times a minute for the entire SH2 segment.
If you go around reassuring your wife that you're not cheating on her. No matter what suspicions she has, you are definitely, TOTALLY not cheating on her. I don't think that would be reassuring.
Anything catering to "contemporary audiences" should be grounds for firing the entire staff for failure to do their fucking jobs.
Instead of a scary monster there'll just be a sign that says "2 genders".
"Faithful"
"Adjust scare factors"
Pick one.

So it's not going to be scary at all?
Remake remake remake remake. What will remain after several years or a couple more iterations, when they have to adjust for current year each time?
Well that’s not good, contemporary audiences are fucking faggots. And who wants a shitty remake from a pachinko machine company anyway?
Nurses will be desexualized
Not normally one to be optimistic, but you could have pretty effective scares for modern audiences.
I'm picturing themes of:
You'll never be a woman
FBI Crime Statistics are real
You are paid what you're worth
If that doesn't work, maybe just have Stonetoss comics hanging on the walls in the apartments or something.

it's not yours to change.
Pyramid head is transgender now? New type of scary
Nah, a surgeon that does bottom surgery...
Maybe one of the moments will be checking Twitter and finding out people disagreed with you but didn't get banned for it.
Pyramid Head cock blocked.
Gonna play the eternal optimist here and suggest maybe they mean they're gonna make the game even more scary.
It's been a fair while since I played SH2, but maybe some of the scares don't have the same impact these days.
Fingers are crossed for this one.

For sure. I'm about as jaded and cynical as it gets these days, but I still on occasion allow for a little hope.
That said, now that I know it's a Western dev that has its hands on the project, that hope has diminished somewhat.
Instead of killing his wife it will turn out that James created Silent Hill because he was rude to a black person once.
"There was a dick here. It's gone now."
