Actual monetary value of something is meaningless when it's used entirely for propaganda. Twitter lost billions in value as well, yet you could argue is part of the reason people today are far more stupid/tech-dependant.
I'm starting to think ESG is a scam to get these companies to devalue themselves with rotten product so that big investment companies - who are the ones running ESG promotion through incentives - can scoop them up at a steep discount. Disney just had it's worst year since the 70's. Gaming companies are hurting. One movie with low to moderate woke (Top Gun Maverick) set new records because people are starving for anything that isn't complete shit.
It's like they're sucking the air out of the room to create a backdraft situation where once they own literally everything and turn off the woke these companies will explode with profits.
I'm not 100% sure I believe this, but the level and direction of manipulation that would be needed here is precisely the type of evil tactics we've come to expect from institutions these days.
Are they slimy enough to do this to flex their ability to manipulate the global market or are they true believers in the brain dead garbage they're subsidizing? Either scenario is terrifying.
Not surprising. I've only seen one movie in theaters this year that I can recall, and it was the only one that looked remotely interesting. The selection streaming services have isn't worth keeping around for more than a month at a time. Cable is useless at this point. It seems to me that the only places that still keep cable are places with waiting and break rooms.
