“Platforms have got to get comfortable with gov’t. It’s really interesting how hesitant they remain,” Microsoft executive Matt Masterson, a former DHS official, texted Jen Easterly, a DHS director, in February.
In a March meeting, Laura Dehmlow, an FBI official, warned that the threat of subversive information on social media could undermine support for the U.S. government. Dehmlow, according to notes of the discussion attended by senior executives from Twitter and JPMorgan Chase, stressed that “we need a media infrastructure that is held accountable
Geoff Hale, the director of the Election Security Initiative at CISA, recommended the use of third-party information-sharing nonprofits as a “clearing house for trust information to avoid the appearance of government propaganda.
I don't even know what to say at this point. None of this surprises me but it's just sad how few people care about this.
Yeah man it's unreal how they say this shit with a straight face.
The government is undermining themselves, but they pretend that it's all because of misinformation and if they could just stop the bad actors who spread it everyone would see how awesome the government is lmao
I'm afraid most of the voting population is too ignorant to understand the gravity of this, and even if you could explain, a growing percentage of those people actually lack the intelligence to comprehend it.
According to a draft copy of DHS’s Quadrennial Homeland Security Review, DHS’s capstone report outlining the department’s strategy and priorities in the coming years, the department plans to target “inaccurate information” on a wide range of topics, including “the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic and the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines, racial justice, U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, and the nature of U.S. support to Ukraine.”
If you ever want evidence that the government is perpetuating disinformation under the guide of combatting it, here you go. Also why it's tough for me to be pro-Ukraine when they are so obviously lying about everything else.
I've noticed that most right wing supporters of Ukraine are usually just not connecting the conspiracy. They seem to assume that because russia is involved and russia bad (according to call of duty and recent cold war policies) that we can suspend all distrust that permeates every other decision and policy made by the same us government. It's strange to see people do a 180 on government in order to support a war against russia.
The Cold War was a very useful tool to elites who wanted to centralize federal authority over American's lives. Create a foreign enemy that everyone has to unite against to defeat. (not that Russia wasn't a valid enemy then) I think are trying to do the same thing now with the continuous funding to Ukraine. Put Russia on the defensive so they ready their nukes, we ready ours, and let the good times roll again.
The Internet makes the propaganda harder but it works among normies who watch TV and don't connect the dots.
This is an absolute violation of the first amendment and those who set that up - if not the entirety of the DHS must be held accountable and punished.
By whom?
VOTING!!!!!
If the government is involved, the 1st amendment clearly applies.

Every media outlet during the Trump years has entered the chat.

It's sickening to watch this play out.

Arch's Take.
My take: Haven't you all heard of Project Mockingbird? Why wouldn't social media have a similar set of programs in place?
