Geek moment: I think the thing about the old EU is that you could pick and choose, and it was so extensive that “contradictory canon” didn’t matter so much…
Rise of Vader clashes with Jedi Academy which clashes with The Force Unleashed??
Oh well, I don’t really care, because they don’t affect the canon of the movies, and work as self-contained stories…
Also, my three favourite EU eras are KOTOR and before (which is by far the most interesting), pre-Phantom (so young Obi-Wan, essentially), and 100ABY (Legacy, in Dark Horse), so none of those drastically impacted canon anyway, lol…
This… Is not that. This is, in a sense, the exact opposite of that…
This is a direct consequence of Disney killing the EU, and trying to force the entire… “Universe” into a woke parody of itself…
Read Dark Horse’s KOTOR and Legacy before they erase them from history, guys… They are truly brilliant. As is Empire, also by Dark Horse…
I always treated the games as the least canon things (or not at all in some cases, for obvious reasons). Basically a 'what if' story, because TFU was all sorts of fucky from a power perspective, not to mention impacts on the story.
"It looks like they're ready to take that step once again"
...Ready? They've never stopped. Not once has Lucasfilm stepped back and said "huh, could we be in error here? Let's tone it back a bit, and see how the revenues look.", not a single time.
"Little more creativity" is what they call breaking the Star Wars universe by introducing hyperdrive ramming. Or Saturday Morning cartoon 'life energy' transfers and bringing people back from the dead.
Another geek moment: it’s rather telling that Disney is obsessed with focusing on this character that they created, rather than an existing, pre-sellout one…
Because Cassius Andor represents this new “morally grey” anti-hero degeneracy that Disney is so very keen in foisting upon all of us, in nearly all their media…
Notice how these characters are the main focus of all Disney IPs, now..?
Did OG Star Wars have “morally grey” characters..? Sure, to an extent. But it was a redemption arc. That was the whole point of the saga…
This… is not that. This is something else entirely. Game of Thrones in space, if you will…
Cassius Andor is not a hero. The guy we saw in Rogue One is barely even good…
No wonder Dismay wants to corrupt the canon, to make him the focus of the story. It perfectly suits their overall corruption of pop culture more broadly…
This is all part of the plan, guys. Best we don’t fall for it.

Disney will never, ever surpass that.

True. Though, uhh, some of those novels are probably worse…
Shit got real weird real quick, especially in the early ones (also the early comics)…
At least the games are generally recognizably Star Wars, lol…
Arguably some of the stuff released before the mid-90s… Is more fanfic than anything else.
It’s fun. It’s just very weird, at times…
Oh yeah. Some are for sure.
What is this you speak of? I’m only aware of the expanded universe
The beatings will continue, goyim
Subversion is hostility.

The same one where the actress said her character is surrounded by inept men? Yeah that's going to be a huge hit /s
To be fair, that actress has literally said similar about every major project she has been in…
It seems to be her (and her pal, Keira Knightley) defining feature, at this point, to be honest…
Her “queer androgyny” fits with that, too, of course…
Leftist retcons represent nothing less than the deliberate destruction of the IP.
/Takes a long drag on a cigarette
"Listen...if you can't write something...anything...without having to change what already has happened...get the fuck out."
yeah nah

Which world is this in, and how can I get there?
Fuck you, Disney.
