In the very best case scenario, we are governed by people just one step removed from the stoner saying "what if the government printed a quadrillion dollars, and then gave everyone a million dollars? We'd all be, like, Rich man!"

Same thing with healthcare and college tuition. If you mandate a payment for it, they’re going to ask for more because everyone’s using ‘magic money’ to pay for it. If they really wanted to see healthcare and education costs drop, remove regulations and guaranteed free funding for it. Then there’d be nobody that would be willing to pay for it at the current prices because it’s not worth that much, so the price goes down.
You go to a GP for 15 minutes, he plugs what you said into their WebMD, then they bill insurance for thousands. Even super cheap meds like thyroid meds that abroad cost pennies on the dollar get billed to insurance for $400 when they cost $3 to make and have been generic for years.

It's funny like people think of them as "redneck" or probably the opposite of fancy, which they aren't, but trucks are really expensive; cost more probably than most Teslas or whatever sports car you and I drive.
