Edit: Both versions are back up. Given that I still don't see anything approximating backlash, I'm going to give BN the benefit of the doubt here. They wouldn't have rolled an intentional change back this quickly without taking any flak.
Maybe the mods can hook the post up with a 'misleading' flair or something. I went ahead and asked; doesn't look like I can add one myself, and there's some decent discussion down below, so I'm hesitant to just nuke the thread.
I was waiting for them to fix some performance issues (frame rate drops, save corruption) on PC, and dropped in to check it out, only to find that there's no 'game-only' listing anymore, only the 'deluxe edition' with soundtrack (I don't care about it) and digital artbook (again, I don't care about it).
Assuming this isn't somehow a mistake, this decision earns a solid "What the fuck, Bandai Namco?" from me.
I didn't find any other posts about the price increase, and SteamDB doesn't show the change, so it seems to be a relatively recent development. The wayback machine and other archives appear to be biting on a rock (the age-gate on the page), so I haven't been able to narrow down when this happened.
Has to be a mistake, Bamco isn’t that greedy. Hell EA isn’t even that greedy. Modern day R*, maybe.
On the topic of performance I’ve noticed it’s much better as of the recent patch, Im playing on max settings with some reshades and such and I haven’t gotten any stutter since I updated.
There are still some people complaining about infinite loading screens after certain bosses and cutscenes, so that’s something to watch out for. When I get back there on my next replay hopefully it’ll be fixed.
To be fair, selling something that isnt yours to sell is beyond scummy and actually does hurt the developer vs pirating something you wouldnt pay for to begin with.
They all are starting to do this, although I'd argue this is a bit early and others are talking about a mistake.
I was waiting for a better price on Ghost of Tsushima, and instead they delisted it, put out something called a "director's cut". I've seen it on some Square Enix titles as well. Still, usually over a year from launch and at least with the price not exceeding the original launch price.
I just wait around because they haven't put out something good enough to make me want to play it now in a long time and I always feel dumb buying a game then it being half what I paid before I even start playing it. It's not even about how much it costs, but how much I'll enjoy it and how cheap it will eventually get.
I pretty severely downsized gaming stuff I had including getting rid of my PS4 and a bunch of other stuff I never played and got a Switch. I actually find I don't mind buying a $40 Switch game a lot of times because that's about the lowest they ever go and I tend to enjoy them enough to not feel ripped off about it.
That's some anti-consumer bullshit if intentional. I bought Elden Meme 2 weeks ago and checking the store page at the time the only difference between base-game and "deluxe" was an artbook and some other thing, maybe music or something idr.
Wow, just confirmed it myself. Still, people make mistakes, hopefully this should be resolved rather quickly, no way could this possibly be intentional.
It is tuesday, they do maintenance on these days and it becomes borked all over.
But if Bandai did that, knowingly, then this is scummy AF.

Giving George RR Martin $60 is already a hard sell.
Too hard. Waiting on that 75% steam sale... For the GOTY version.
If this isn't a mistake, I foresee people waiting for the $0 "Fuck You" version.

If it is real Im pirating everything Bamco makes from now on on general principal.
A pinned post in plebbit's Steam page says it might have coincided with weekly maintenance in Steam. Someone might have dun goof'd.
Whole store is filled with borked shit like this, so its almost certainly part of a big collection of bugs.

Looks like a mistake. Nobody can be this inept at PR or beg so hard for consumer protection agencies to investigate them.

DOH FOR FUCKS SAKE!!!!
