Power will exist but we can structure structures in ways that we think benefit society and keeps them in check. You're always trading one power for another though. One of the brilliant aspects of the US Constitution (and they didn't go far enough) was setting levers of power against each other, while limiting their scope, so they would stay busy fighting the other powers and not imposing their will on the people.
If they are going to actively go against the will of the Floridian people then they don’t deserve it. What are they going to do? Move magic kingdom and the rest of their parks to another state that’s warm all year round and place it on a parcel of land the size of a small town that’s closer for people living in the east coast than Disneyland?
The entire Reedy Creek Improvement District was granted on a lie. Disney lied and told legislators they wanted to build a community (EPCOT) and instead built theme parks, including one that stole the name of this pitched project.
Within those square miles, the Disney corporation has more power than even government in major cities in the state.
Why they got to keep their permissions on the backs of the taxpayer is insane.
Kissing Disney's ass is coming back to bite him in his. This is why he should be Trump's running mate and not his replacement for 2024. The padawan has much to learn.
Give me a break, DeSantis isn't the messiah, but at least he will use power against his enemies, something Trump never did. DeSantis should stay as governor anyway and try to shore up Florida. There is little to be gained from trying to attack Washington from the inside at this point, since Trump wasted the populist momentum trying to compromise with the Swamp over and over again.
I'm not going to say this out of a dislike for Trump. I went to many of his rallies and voted for the man. But, objectively, looking at his Presidency, Trump was a failure.
The FBI and DoJ falls under the administration of the President's office. The director of the FBI and the Attorney General serve at the pleasure of the President. So what did Trump do? He kept his political enemy's FBI director and appointed Sessions as AG who was intent on doing nothing to save his ass instead of serve his president. So what happened is instead of using the FBI and DoJ to persecute his political enemies, his political enemies instead turned his own political investigative & prosecution infrastructure against him. And the rest of his cabinet was full of his business cronies easily ousted from their positions.
He couldn't even implement his core policy, The Wall, without private funding.
Even his VP betrayed him.
Unfortunately, regardless of how much I like Trump's messaging and believe that he could be a President of the people, I also believe he doesn't have the political network to run a government.
De Santis, being a governor has developed that infrastructure. He'll only needs to scale it up, but he has all of the positions of control manned with people he knows at the state level which isn't that much different at the national level.
The biggest flaw is that Trump is a business man. "They'll do what I say because I'm the boss" only happens in companies where you have a pool of varied potential employees lined up to replace anyone. But in government, that pool of potential employees are all deep state. Getting rid of Sessions and replace him with who?
The only option was finding the loyal areas of the military and crossing the Rubicon. The experiment is over, and was doomed the moment the country granted the right to vote to people who have no skin in the game.
Eh, that was a last resort. Definitely line up loyal areas of the military, but there's a lot he could have done before it got that far. For example why would he need to replace Sessions with anyone? Assuming the DoJ even does something useful, let it collapse. Let organized crime and drug trafficking and corruption run rampant. Make it a news story. He can have a long line of non-swamprat candidates ready to go and tell the full congress to vote up or down. Whatever happens to the country is on them.
I don't think he is that educated on the workings of government and his constitutional authority, so he's totally dependent on advisors. They failed him. (which is also his failure since he picked them)
So what happened is instead of using the FBI and DoJ to persecute his political enemies, his political enemies instead turned his own political investigative & prosecution infrastructure against him.
The bigger issue is that Trump let the wolves feast on his supporters. Trump himself is doing fine. It's his supporters that have been killed, held as political prisoners, and driven to suicide.
His treatment of his supporters and his fervent promotion of the jab.....yeah, no....Trump did his thing. He tried. We tried. For me, it's over. Unless someone else wants to wow me, I'm voting De Santis in 2024.
As I've said before, I don't have much faith in politicians, but if you want to keep the faith, I implore you to hold them accountable. If Ronnie starts getting pozzed up and doing the wrong things, you have to be ready to go after him for it. So many on the right just cling to the next "based guy" and then commit themselves to defending them. The relationship between us and politicians shouldn't be that way. They are supposed to be there to serve us. If they aren't we must discard them, or even ruin them if they betray us hard enough. We need to have a more adversarial attitude toward them and push them around to get them to do things we want.
Trump is a retard. At best he was always just a 4-8 year delay to the progressive plan. It turns out he was such a faggot he didn't even really delay much. Buy American bill was good, that's about it.
We need MUCH more like this.
Seriously.
Corporations having undue sway over government is a way bigger problem than just Disney's sway over Florida.
And even in the micocosm of just Disney, look at what Disney have done to copyright law. It's obscene.
Cyberpunk's megacorps were supposed to be a warning, not a blueprint!
Needs more shadowruns to fuck with them for the lulz.
Listen up, chummer! Mr. Johnson needs a 10th level Decker to "appropriate" some data from Aztechnology's mainframe.
Frag that. World-class deckers and blood mages do not mix. It would be a loss to computer science. Find yourself another sucker.
Geek the mage first.
Absolutely. Power will exist. The only thing that matters is that our people, good people, wield power.
Power will exist but we can structure structures in ways that we think benefit society and keeps them in check. You're always trading one power for another though. Wow, he read my letter.

Wishing them luck so they can take down the scientologists next!

2024 will be an interesting primary.
I kind of think that way too, but that in itself might also be interesting, just not shocking or unexpected.

Trump could have kept Bannon around, but he didn't know who he could trust so he went with (((family))) instead. Sad!

Trump will be soon hitting 80, give him his retirement. DeSantis on the other hand is still rather young.
