When a leftist says "X is violence", they aren't saying "We all need to stop X because violence is wrong." Leftists are just fine with violence for the right cause. Those pearl-clutching statements are virtue signals to other leftists that "X represents a danger to our movement and needs to be shut down."

Conflating protected speech with violence and violence with protected speech isn't hypocrisy-- it's a tactic. Violence justifies self-defense, therefore their actions are never violent, but their opponents' always are. Once they have the power to decide whether an action is violent, any action by the left's foot soldiers (no matter how radical) is justifiable as self-defense against the right's "violence." (See: Kenosha Kyle's case. Denying the right of self-defense is just another lawfare tactic against the right.)
Keeping that in mind, we have to recognize that there are no standards on the left, save the double-standards which serve the left's power grabs. They can lie to your face, in the name of the power they need to enforce their 'greater good.' Why? Simple. They're willing to justify any action (no matter how vile) by any means necessary, if it gives them the means to enact their utopian position. Their good intent, and the future they're willing to sacrifice you for, is ultimately all that matters.
