Kid thought he could just pretend to be crazy not knowing most of the people interviewing him have seen all kinds of stuff from all kinds of people. He wasn't fooling anybody.

When they arrested him, he claimed to hear "voices".
There's video of the interrogation. He's acting almost comatose when they bring him into the room and put him in a chair. The officer leaves for a moment to get some water. As soon as the door closes, this kid is VERY alert and looks up, only to see the camera.
He suddenly starts acting crazy, but he slipped. He accidentally started to mimic holding his rifle, which was a sign of him reliving what he did. He quickly changed it to trying to shoot himself and he kept saying "Kill me" or something like that.
During the interrogation, he seemed to think he could get to talk to a psychologist right away. He was probably thinking he could do these murders and get away with them by being sent to an asylum instead of doing real time. The officer told him that the psychologist is giving him questions to ask.

Bobby Fischer was genuine. He didn't act crazy or glowie as he explained his thoughts. . . This guy in the article however is an obvious shill trying to act crazy, and is also similar to when there is a swastika graffitied on a synagogue and its found out that its a Jew who did it trying to create victimhood points for themselves .
He totally acted crazy. I was watching Bobby Fischer vs the World or whatever not long ago and dude seemed like a nut from the footage. Possibly he was just autistic and couldn't get his point across without coming off as odd/gruff, or no longer cared to be civil as he got older, maybe schizophrenic. But especially when getting amnesty in that country at the end of his life, yeah, seemed like a nut. Not saying he was wrong, just that he seemed crazy and maybe came to his conclusions the wrong way. Was part of a cult too for awhile if i recall. Graffiti thing and cases like it are a hate hoax. Dunno about this guy though.
Something that always bugged me about this is this; legal or not, the AR-15 is an expensive kit. Where did he get the money for it? He doesn't seem like the person that can hold down a job very well.
I know all about the modular design on the rifle in question, yet I'm having a hard time seeing someone like him even affording a whole upper.
