I was a kid when I realized arguing about abortion is stupid because of that very reason.
However I believe Roe v. Wade was about that exact issue, medically defining when life begins and when it becomes a human being, and what authority the states have based on the trimester of pregnancy.

It’s the very fact that both sides are arguing different things that makes it so vitriolic; this isn’t some amazing piece of wisdom. The fact that neither side is responding to the argument of the other is because to do so would be to make the issue about that question.
