Australia accepts Covid will be with them forever - after keeping it out for 1 year they let it in thanks to flights from India. Hope that was worth it. (summit.news)

It's an endemic disease. That means literally everyone you will ever meet (that doesn't die early) is going to get covid. Nothing can change that.

New Zealand is still covid free - by very strong border controls

Still? My Dad lives in New Zealand and just two weeks ago they went into another lockdown because cases were rising.

All they've done is delay the inevitable and they've set themselves up for rolling lockdowns in perpetuity.

Great idea, just don't let anyone or anything into your small island country forever, so that nobody gets sick from a slightly worse flu. What possible negative economic consequences could that have?

Well, Australia and New Zealand massively outperformed every other country over the past year so….

Because they're island nations and can completely close their borders, which is not the case for almost every other country in the world.

Globalism and GDP are not life necessities.

Worry less about "the economy" and more about the genetic engineering that's happening.

The real disease is your country itself is a dystopian police state with total control over its population of cattle.

“So even if you run into your next door neighbor in the shopping center…don’t start up a conversation, now is the time for minimizing your interactions with others, even if you’ve got a mask, do not think that affords total protection,” she added.

This is interesting. I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, but I'm guessing this wasn't just an off-hand comment. They may or may not be losing the information war yet, but they're certainly concerned. It's a tad bit harder to track people's conversations offline than it is online, so they don't want people to have the opportunity to share information in a way that's harder to trace.

Willem Defoe. Nah, she/it is way uglier than him... And it's claiming to be a woman, too, so...

I just call her dogface. Seems to work, for me at least...

Why would you accept the self-serving lie of an incompetent bureaucrat as speaking for all of Australia? He should be falling on his sword, not speaking on a topic he is clearly unqualified to discuss.
