I was just thinking this now: "Follow the rules" has become a very strange thing, this past 18 months...
Like, I get if, the chain of command, and "respecting authority" is, and has always been, a big thing in the military, but to use that... "Culture", for political ends, like this, because your "leader" is a fragile, demented narcissist who, anyone can see, patently fucked up... That's honestly kind of worrying...
Especially to enforce this on retired personnel. That's next level creepy and fucked up. However I can't say I'm surprised, really, to be honest...
The military wasn't following the rules when they refused Trump's orders to pull troops out of Syria. There's also a ton of smoke indicating that Trump did attempt to invoke the insurrection act and was denied by top military brass.
As per usual, rules are only for the enemies of globalism and leftism.
I feel so horrible for those who died. I didn’t have to go to Afghanistan when I was in the Air Force but my brother did. Never would’ve thought it would last this long. Also can’t believe Biden didn’t see this coming
How strict is their definition for "disrespect"? This seems terrifyingly easy to abuse. Depending on how it's defined this could vary from merely questioning Biden, to failing to speak of the party's figure head with anything other than glowing praise and outright reverence. The fact they're abusing the idea of respecting authority is disturbing enough on its own, but I'm at the point where I can't see any stopping point to this madness.
Because apparently this administration can't get enough of making it glaringly obvious Biden is extremely vain, and prefers being surrounded by yes men. Traits that definitely signal strong, decisive leadership able to make rapid decisions in a pinch.
There was a great line thrown out in an interview in the past few days and I wish I remembered who said it, to loosely paraphrase it - 'lives are being lost in the service of Joe Biden not having to admit he made a mistake'. What's casually threatening the armed forces at large if you've already committed to this path?
It's bad when I look wistfully back at the Obama era, and for as bad as that administration was, they knew how to spin bad news and at least tried to dress it up. These clowns don't give two shits how it looks.
Obama was (and still is) worshipped by the media as a deity with the media working overtime to make Obama and his administration look good and “scandal-free.”
Virtually every Obama-era policy was based on disparate impact theory. He was far worse than Biden because he was far more effective than Biden. Hell, Biden isn't even in charge, and Obama is clearly one of the hands up his ass.
I think you are exaggerating, but the disastrous Obama-era policies certainly were based on disparate impact.
You are right about one thing: the silver lining of the past week is that the ruling class is incredibly incompetent. Which means that the tyranny they aspire to, they will probably not be able to successfully mount.
Guys, the point I'm making, badly, is that Obama was a skilled opponent who knew that the presidency still had to look like the presidency. I completely was against almost everything he did, and while we did look weak under his leadership there was obviously a hand at the wheel and an ability to respond to things.
There is a gaping chasm in the Biden White House. His lack of leadership and complete disdain for tradition is like nothing I've ever seen - Obama was a 3/10 but with charisma. Joe's a 1/10. This is the kind of thing that instead of brooking trouble behind the scenes, loudly invites trouble to come out into the open. This is really not good for the country.
See below. Joe is worse than Obama by an order of magnitude is what I'm trying to say. I agree Joe's doing more things deliberately than what other people say, but with all the grace of a teetering drunk. For all the screaming the left did about how Trump supposedly was 'unpresidential', he conveyed strength. Obama at least had some charisma and could take command of an audience (Of sycophants, I know). Biden's got neither, doesn't care about it, and it's really bad when a president looks this flimsy.
How the guy is holding his carbine is making my blood boil, dumb motherfucker, of course Air Force and MSGT to boot. If you got the barrel that high up, you can shoot a troop in the gut numskull. The barrell goes UP or DOWN, it goes sideways when you are going to evacuate someones colon.
This is a bit misleading since it's always been the rule to begin with.
The UCMJ specifically states that these are punitive actions.
Article 88—Contempt toward officials
Article 89—Disrespect toward a superior commissioned officer
Retired Military are considered part of the inactive reserve and are subject to the UCMJ. The same as Active Duty, reserves, and officers.
So the article is correct but this isnt some new change. The rules were not relaxed under Trump. The rules were exactly the same. The difference is the officers and NCOs charged with upholding those rules under Trump were in violation of Article 92—Failure to obey order or regulation.
They are picking and choosing when to enforce the UCMJ.

Didn't seem to be such a big thing when Trump was in office with Mark Milley's shenanigans among others.
Here's a list of retired generals that criticized Trump.

Respect is earned, not given.
Biden has earned nothing but scorn and pity.
No pity for Pedo Joe. May he suffer horribly until the day he dies.
Dear leader makes the sun rise, he cannot be criticized... not that he's comprehensive to understand mockery to his face

It's pretty ordinary that members of the military are not allowed to disrespect their civilian superiors.
By most accounts, top military brass literally ignored Trump's orders on multiple occasions.
I saw that too. Think it was supposed be 'and'. Meaning both active duty and retired personelle are gagged
This is correct. Retired are consider inactive reserve and are subject to UCMJ.
