Hiring in Asheville, NC is impossible w/ the entitled generation. Turning down $16/hr to stand holding a sign while construction crews do actual work because it starts before 11am, no signing bonus, living allowance or free vehicle... (twitter.com)

Eh, free market is give and take. It's totally warped now with unemployment, but I have no problem with someone asking for more money for anything. Everything is negotiable. It always amuses me when people complain about the buyer OR the seller side of a transaction.

But the stupid thing here is the government giving people money to stay home.

The dumbass asking for a late start was either trolling or doesn't know how "jobs" work.

I think I was as much taken aback by the quality of their negotiation tactics. I guess much can't be expected from people whose ambition consists of holding a sign.

Things like "Is the pay negotiable?", "Are the hours flexible?", "Can you assist with transportation?". Yeah they may not get the job but at least sound like they have a brain. They might lead to some negotiation, I've actually had a job in the past where the guy with the work truck picked me up on his way.

What we get instead "How the fuck do I get to and from work then?" and "I can't because I hang out with friends and that's too early."

They have to start with presenting themselves as adults, and that was something I learned when I was trying to get a job bussing tables as a 15 year old.

"Bro imma need a two hour lunch break to go home and smoke a bowl. It helps me relax and get through the day. Thats not gonna be a problem right?"

"Also do you drug test?"

I can't believe all these employees don't want to be vaccinated! So unprofessional! Act like adults for god's sake!

Literally our enemies right now, to a lot of us.

It really is clown world isn't it?

It also appears by glancing at the comments on this post, that I've unintentionally co-opted it into a soliloquy of rants on my thoughts about lazy people.

They probably think they’re doing that. Social Media is awash with hiring or salary negotiation advice that’s really only valid if you’re like a highly qualified engineering grad and young autists have to learn that somewhere.

Sad as it is you could be right. If they've never been given any idea on how to present themselves and have to find it on YouTube, then it could be quite true they have no idea otherwise.

It's formerly a parent's job to teach their kids basic life skills including negotiation. But, you know, parents want to be their kid's friend instead of an authority figure.

Yeah, I don't have an issue with negotiating terms of employment, it's the way they are doing it that is doomed to failure.

Pretty much. When it's an employers' market companies certainly will take advantage of that fact. An employer isn't entitled to employees any more than an employee is entitled to a job. And if no one wants to work before 11am then guess what? You aren't doing any work before 11am. Bitch and moan about it all you want, but that's reality.

Yeah, it's not the free market with these Biden bucks.

Have road construction companies traditionally been the loudest voice speaking out against bloat and government waste?

That is exactly the problem though, it is that the negotion is completely unfair now because of the government, I think that is what most people are complaining about. That is why I am annoyed with employees asking for more, they are exploiting the system and they know it.

The government is literally paying people to just stay home. And keep in mind in some cases these people didn't even lose jobs in the first place, in Oregon where I moved from last year, people literally applied not even having a job, many students, and still got unemployment approved. Like wtf, its just printing money for the sake of printing money at this point.

Two things are at record highs:

  • Corporate profits
  • Cost of living (rent, etc)

Seems like everyone was moving up. Except the employees doing the actual work?

A couple of replies to my post in different threads, sure it’s whatever, but at this point you are obsessed with me dude. I’m not gonna reply to you any more. Hope you jerked off enough because whatever kink you get off of me is done.
