I'd post a few excerpts from their history, but it would seem they regularly delete all their old controversial comments.

I've been avoiding all the prior Default subs for quite some time now, but in my experience most of the smaller/hobby subs are still decent.
Unfortunately, the GOG subreddit has been on a downward spiral and this was the final nail in the coffin for me.

Besides, .win barely coveres a fraction of the things I'm interested in, and reddit is hardly the only site I keep up with. Well, the subreddit is community run and isn't managed by GOG, so you can't really fault them for this, but considering the development of Cyberpunk 2077 I can't exactly say that CDPR/GOG has been that based lately.
I miss r/civ and r/StarWarsArmada, and my city and state subs, among others.
That's what's irritating is seeing these fairweather supporters who think they can continue to use reddit without being flaming hypocrites.

Only the admins can add functionality to the win network. Once new subs (or wins, whatever we're calling them) are allowed to be created without a nagging campaign, I can start considering getting some of the good reddit subs to migrate. I would not invite them to our little space here, as they would drown out too much of our relevant posts. I don't think you'd want the reddit subs you miss to migrate into kia2.win either.

Yes, that is a problem that the network needs to sort out, and quickly. In a sense it's unfortunate that they went live without solving it, but agile development, whatchagonna do.
The thing about agile development is that it is in some ways most responsive to pain. If the admins were constantly being hammered with more nagging campaigns (as they should be) there would be more pressure on them to solve the self-serve create your own community problem.
People looking for a replacement for reddit look at ruqqus (and before that, voat) and think "wow, that's basically what wanted, except it's dead". Yeah. Because they put delivering the functionality ahead of delivering to a community first. Network effect isn't fueled by having the best software, it's fueled by having the most people. This is why .win stands a chance of succeeding where ruqqus and voat failed, because we have dense and growing communities, and it's just the software that's shit.
You can go a long way on shit software if you have a strong community (see EVE Online).
For real? You want state/city subs crammed into kia2? We'd need some kind of post filter system to make that possible to read, and I don't think it's been added yet. I'd be irritated if I was forced to filter posts that thoroughly; I would drop gaming subs once the front page was consistently filled with dumb memes and fanart, even though I could have filtered them out by tag.
Fair point. I have conflicting priorities there, though, because I want to see if the admins can manage without the nagging. I don't like having to pack up and move so much, so I'm eager to find evidence of reliability here. This is also the only win section I post in, so I'm not totally sure where the line is between our volunteer coders lagging and the admins not permitting a customization option.
I'll agree, though I can't tell if more people are moving in or it's just prior users trying a new win section. I get the feeling that half of our new users in kia2.win wandered in from patriots.win. But the initial community of the_donald was pretty big (and the surrounding events were great advertisement), so yeah, the win network should be leading the charge in reddit alternatives. It's just, are the admins struggling with the work or waiting because they think they don't have enough users? They seem a little evasive on the subject.
I had to search the term 'ruqqus' because I haven't really heard about it. We seem to have a small foothold in each of the alternative reddit sites, but now that I think of it, I can't really recall the names of those sites, haha.
I left the day we turned this on. Because I believe in creating the replacement.
