It's honestly depressing how many grifters there are out there taking advantage of people on the right. If it included a from-scratch OS rewrite it might justify the price tag, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

Its depressing because it keeps happening with such ease. Shows just how broken and desperate many are just to be acknowledged, let alone a little catering to.

One thing the left has done a better job of than the right is internalize the idea of the "commons". Right-wingers seem to have completely internalized the idea that anything worth a damn is something that you need to privatize and charge money for and make money doing. So they're a lot more suspicious of anything that people just give away and cede that ground to the left. Major mistake.

I wish the "right wing dev squad" threads on /pol/ had more traction than they did, because there was a lot of untapped potential there.

It shows how gullible they are, expecially when it comes to technology and privacy. Just look at Parler, Gettr and this Freedom Phone nonsense. These guys are willing to spend hundreds of dollars on a privacy respecting phone when they could just flash a custom ROM on existing devices if they really cared. It's foolish and lazy.

I kinda understand why many would spend money on it. For people who can barely save a file on pc,flashing a custom firmware on a phone will not be easy. You have to think that not everyone is a uber hax0r, or technically savvy enough to flash a firmware.

My phone is using an unlocked android and unlocked region. Of my whole family, I am the only one capable of doing it. I have relatives so technologically averse that they think an error window asking you to close an unresponsive program is the hardest thing in the world.

There's also a selection bias, the cathedral never comes down as hard on the grifters as the actual sincere future contenders to their authority, so they actually tend to last a lot longer.

To be fair, there are also a ton of grifters taking advantage of people on the left.

Look at BLM. How many Black owned businesses did they help get off the ground? How many million dollar houses did the "Marxist" founders buy with those donations?

If anything, the grifters are much more successful on the left. They get all the corporate backing.

That, and do you think that someone who has a "Hungry, homeless" sign, but is of sound body, and will refuse anything but cold hard cash of sufficient domination will get more money from conservatives or liberals?

Look at the number of grifters taking advantage of people on the left and you'll perk right up.

Because it's speaking to the classical liberals and libertarians. Thinking that these members are most of the "left".

No.

We can see that most of the people driving the modern left are a combination of corporatist blue dogs and "that wasn't real communism" Marx fans.

This is an article from the DailyBeast, which is fervently on the left. Their existence is to make everything on the right look bad while shining the shits of the left. Tim Pool did a fair job of covering this in the second half of today's Timcast. One of the most important things, which isn't mentioned in the DB article is what software is loaded on it. It's also not possible to produce a US made smartphone. The production capacity is just no longer around. The

If you do want a phone that's not connected to Apple or Google, you can do the partial method of installing custom firmware on an android phone. A more complete solution is the Librem 5 by Purism. They make laptops also, but they don't have the newest hardware, since they have to it takes a while to make sure the hardware doesn't do things it shouldn't.

This shit is all a caricature of what left-wingers think right-wingers like.

See also: Black Rifle Coffee, run by a bunch of regime veterans who play this shit up while condemning St. Kyle for defending himself.

Mercer money was behind parler too. In fact, a lot of RINO grifting and RINO campaigns trace back to Mercer...

So, a random kid took an edgy name, edgy theme and wanted to push some cheap vaporware over it.

Err, is it a day ending in 'ay'?

This is the same reason you don't just trust someone who identifies as an Anti-Communist. If you're not careful, you'll find out they are the most Leftist people among you. Like Fascists, National Socialists, Democratic Socialists, and Fabian Socialists.

This is basically what Nixon did.

So, it's a rebranded $130 phone, with a fork of Android with a little bit of secret sauce built into it. And they sell it for $500.

The brainchild of this phone happened to spend his $1000 gift from grandma, and struck it rich by buying some bitcoin. Other then that, he doesn't have any other background in security.

Yeah, thanks but no thanks.

If privacy and security is interesting for you, go for CalyxOS or LineageOS. Eventually, someone might make a fully opensource phone, which includes both the OS, but hardware+firmware.

Now that phone might be secure.

Maybe if he wanted to put up his million bitcoin dollars against DefCon for hack this phone, I'd believe that it's actually a secure phone. But, I doubt it.

Who is falling for this crap? It's like the bottom barrel version of a budget Ben Shapiro. And I don't know any conservatives who actually listen to Ben Shapiro.

I'm in the just buy something cheap and do the best you can camp. I'm just a Google as little as possible Android user at the moment. I've played with LineageOS and it's a decent enough experience.

If you don't want your location tracked then sorry the phone has to stay at home. Period. It's inherent in how the network works, it has to know where to find you to get information to you. Would I prefer to keep that only with the service provider over big tech? Sure, but just understand a mobile phone is a built in tracker no matter what.

Basically if you didn't build it/program it yourself, it's not secure.
