I feel like the conservatives have done many stunts like this in the past, with that intended effect, but look at where we are today.
Gamergate did the exact same thing; Funded http://www.thefineyoungcapitalists.com/ to prove they weren't sexist and weren't trying to force women out of gaming.
Did it help one bit? No. Not a damn, not one iota. GG still got smeared as a sexist reactionary attempt to push women out of game development. The left set the narrative, and absolutely nothing we said or did changed it one teeny tiny bit. They exerted complete and total control of the public narrative from day one, and they still have it.

The left always operates out of bad-faith arguments, positions, and tactics. Mainstream conservatives (for reasons that I don't understand) always assume that the left is operating in good faith, but that they are merely ignorant of the consequences of their policies, or are at worst, stupid people. AOC is indeed stupid, but she advocates for what she does because she's a bad person, not that she's merely ignorant. She's ignorant and stupid on top of being a malicious actor.
She most definitely is not. You don't go from waitress to Congresswoman without knowing what you are doing.
When she says something braindead stupid, like, 'why aren't we growing yucca in new york?' it's not because she doesn't understand that you can't just grow plants wherever the hell you like, it's because she knows it makes her sound like a true believer. It's a virtue signal, proof of piety, proof of her hatred of all things white America.
When she asks someone a retarded question, it's not because she doesn't understand the subject at all. It's because that question is a good soundbite for the radicals. The answer the question recieves is absolutely irrelevant - it doesn't matter that a dozen youtube videos will go up tiled '<name> utterly DESTROYS AOC'. All that matters is that the radicals will hear her ask that question.
When she cries at the sight of a car park, it's not because she thinks it's going fool anyone on the right, or even the center. It is, you guessed it, another signal to the radicals.

AOC is not stupid. She's an anti-white racist who sees herself as a future Presidente of a socialist republic. She could even, one day, succeed.

The battle lines will stay exactly the same. Going for PR victories at this stage is pretty pointless because our enemy controls almost every means of disseminating information to the masses. We never get to control the narrative that is delivered to the public.
This is just a way for conservatives to pat themselves on the back and feel like they did something. I guess it is a morale booster for conservatives? I'd rather boost morale by getting actual Ws though, and by that I mean legal and political victories.
