There's a scene that perfectly encapsulated SJW ethics.
They bring a security guard with them. Then not even 2 minutes into 'the zone' one of the women flirt with him to disarm him, then with his own gun shoots him and offers him as a sacrifice for the zombies.
They then justify this murder of one of their own group because he had said sexist things in the past. It's ok to kill him, he's a sexist. Not 'he's a rapist' - no, nothing that serious, but he had committed wrongspeak.
And only 2 of the group even knew about his past. The others just watch this and shrug. No questions askes. Just hearing after the murder that he was a sexist is enough to ethically make his murder unquestionable and fine.
Presumably thinking: "Why wouldn't we lure and kill one of our own, aftall we're SJWs and deceit, retribution, and hatred is in our blood, now let's get on with the mission".
This act of murder, I bet you, is deeply pleaseing to the SJWs who made and watch this film. The S in SJW can equally validly stand for Sadistic.
That used to be the case in old films. But that was too realistic (given that if a Jogger wants to he literally just rapes a woman and leaves). So now these days villains are reduced to bumbling mostly white fools, as in the case in the SJW-laden Army of the Dead.
That's disgusting. I guess it finally happened; Zack Snyder went full SJW. I guess the Snyder Cut will be last Zack Snyder film that I watch, unless things drastically change.
I'm not typically one to moralize about whether a piece of art conforms to my values. I enjoy many things that are contrary to my personal values. But this is just so blatant and evil. It's one thing to portray a character, even a protagonist, that is evil. But for a movie to wholeheartedly take the side of evil, sadistic actions like this? That's a hard no.
Brilliant, because nothing says "building walls bad" like building a wall to keep out flesh eating monsters who attack and turn everyone else into flesh eating monsters.
Or maybe now it's racist to consider zombies to be any lesser than normal human beings? Sorry, non-zombified human beings.
Can confirm, I mistakenly watched this movie and about half way through I kept wondering when will they get to the movie? It's well shot and everything but when you get to the end it's like are they cool with the aliens now? What was the story even about?
After reading your comment I think the answer is they seized the means of production, it's just a vehicle for politics.
This is the same guy that had protesters with posters that said "Superman = Illegal Alien" in Batman v Superman, so it doesn't surprise me.
I genuinely like Zack Snyder's work, and he's far from the wokest director in Hollywood, or even superhero movies. But this is just so damn tedious. I just don't have the patience for seeing a bunch of ignoramuses iterate the same political talking points over and over without a semblance of an individual thought in the bunch. It's the same reason that I outgrew the punk scene.
There's so much good film out there, over 100 years of it, to be precise. Life's just too short to bother with stuff like this.
Back in March, in preparation for the release of the Snyder cut of the Justice League movie, Snyder was doing a lot of community out reach with that fan community that helped make it happen, because Warner Brothers insisted that at first it didn't exist, then insisted it would never see the light of day. A big section of that fan community is considered "toxic" by the mainstream. One of those "toxic" communities is a Youtube channel and group called Geeks and Gamers, and along with other Youtubers in the Friday Night Tights crew, they threw a charity stream for suicide prevention in honor of Snyder, whose daughter killed herself (which was the reason he left production for Justice League). Zack Snyder himself showed up to that charity stream, that had already raised a lot of money (tens of thousands I believe, which is impressive for a relatively small community). The first thing Snyder said was that he wasn't associated with Geeks and Gamers in any way or any wrongthink/notmainstream fans, which then proceeded to kill the stream and nosedive the contributions to the charity.
Essentially, Snyder was invited into someone's house, while they were throwing him a party, and he then proceeded to shit on everything and demean the people that lived there.
Snyder was mostly praised by the fans because he (up to that point) didn't cave into the SJW mob, or insert SJW shit into his movies. He seemed like a relatively normal guy. Well, this is apparently what a normal guy in Hollywood does.
My take on that situation: Snyder doesn't have to endorse or approve of the people running a charity stream in his honor, but there are far better ways to communicate this message than "appear on the stream as a guest, live, and then sabotage the whole thing".
How to properly distance yourself from your fans: "Just gotta get something out of the way or lawyers will be so far up my ass that they'll buy me dinner next time: [group] is in no way, legal, societal, social, whatever, affiliated with me or the brands associated with me except where otherwise explicitly stated, blah blah blah. Okay, that out of the way, thank you for having me here and for raising money for this charity effort."
Actually 2004's Dawn of the Dead is a darn good film, and runs circles around Army of the Dead.
Funnily enough, the survivors in 2004's Dawn of the Dead only get as far as they do because of the straight white males. In fact, ALL of the most badass scenes belong to the straight white males. The main character, a female, is helpless throughout most of the film and only survives, once again, because of a straight white male sacrificing himself for her.
But otherwise, Snyder is an SJW and Army of the Dead shows that he's gone all in on the Wokeism. The movie is pure crap and follows every SJW trope you can imagine.

No no no you see, if we just accept zombies into our societies without prejudice they'll eventually turn vegan
-women
I like scenes where women seduce nameless thugs to get secure access keys or to disarm them...but that scene just sounds stupid.
Those scenes are also very stupid. An evil bad guy isn't going to play seduction games with a woman. He's just going to rape her immediately.
That used to be the case in old films. But that was too realistic (given that if a Jogger wants to he literally just rapes a woman and leaves). So now these days villains are reduced to bumbling mostly white fools, as in the case in the SJW-laden Army of the Dead.

Yeah SPOILER ALERT but the 'survivors' of the group all happen to be strong empowered females.
Plus there is the 'Sacrifice the main male lead for the shittiest female in the group' trope.
The entire thing was boring. Who knew a 2.5 hour zombie action film could be tedious.
Oh good, proof that the studios were correct in throwing his ass to the curb to begin with.
Brilliant, because nothing says "building walls bad" like building a wall to keep out flesh eating monsters who attack and turn everyone else into flesh eating monsters.

They want to make us into controlled zombies.
Congratulations Zack
You found a way to make a border message dumber than land of the dead

Both of them make frequent sexual advances.

LV = Las Vegas?

Snyder was never talented and always came off as an absolute weirdo, change my mind.
Sucker Punch was one of the worst, most unintentionally funny movies I have ever seen in my life and I still feel my intelligence was insulted by it.

I must have missed that between the scenes of a woman crying while on the table and the back alley doctor selling the fetuses for stem cell research.
Ugh, they're STILL making zombie movies? Zombie movies are now the zombies of movie genres. They just won't fuckin' die.
