Lately I find it necessary to find out before watching a movie if they want to tell a story or just plainly sell you their political agenda to avoid wasting my time. The best ways I have to try and filter out some of them before hand is checking rotten tomatoes scores (if the audience is much higher than the critics this is a good sign, the opposite a very bad sign) or looking at some reviews and searching for a couple of keywords (people complaining about it inserting politics, etc).
Don't get me wrong, it's not about not having politics or political messages, I'm fine with stories with political messages but not with political messages masqareiding as stories.
I'm thinking of building a website where people can "rate" as woke or not movies since I crave an easy way to filter them out or find those movies which might be unconstrained by the religious restrictions of wokeness, does this exist? If not would people be interested in it?
Yep, it's far more likely to be anti-white than not. With a good director they might be able to minimize that stuff, but it's hard to have a modern movie or TV show without some amount of corruption.
Right wing tomatoes is supposed to be a better review site to look at, but it's still user created content so you can't rely on it entirely.
I find RWT too hard to use, there is no way to search by tags such as "least woke scifi movies from 2020" and a lot of them just rely on reading reviews, no "score" that one can use to filter
Is it mainstream? Is it Hollywood? Is it starring some big-shot actor? Did it win any awards? Was it nominated for any awards? Was it made after 2016? If the answer to any of these questions is "yes," then it's woke. Fuck movies.
Add to this: "Is Twitter/social media creaming itself over the upcoming release?" along with "Is it a remake?"
But this is too much work, I just want something quick and easy. Ideally also to search based on latest movies which are not woke
thats commie talk, purge that from your mindset
Answering 6 simple questions is too much work?
Quit watching modern movies. Easiest answer. What acp_k2win suggested isn't a lot of work at all. It's, at most, 5 minutes on IMDb.
Dude just stop watching bullshit and doing something productive ffs. Do you meditate daily? Lift? Eat healthy? Spend time in nature?
You don’t have time for watching propaganda at worst, or the same story (aka a heroes journey) told over and over in a different format.
Don't ask questions you don't want answered then. You wanted to know how to tell if movies might be woke, FromTheShadows was generous enough to give you a simple checklist that is the quick and easy option.
Check imdb rating by demographic (click on the vote number). The higher the female rating compared to older males the woker/more subversive the movie usually.
I didn't even know about the demographic option on IMDb. Thanks.
Any Western media created after 2013 and featuring a female or minority protagonist is overwhelmingly likely to be leftist trash.
My rule of thumb is to be wary of anything after 2014 unless someone I trust recommends it. It hurts me to say but be wary of minorities or females are leads in anything from the last few years. Avoid period pieces now and any adaptations that race or gender swap avoid
Why? What's wrong with saying you would prefer stories that focus on white men?
In the 90s we didn't really have to consider it. Now we do, thanks to the commies who push their anti-west agenda behind "representation".
I’m black and I dont want to watch any modern day show with a black lead or majority black cast because it’s more than likely going to hit on the usual wine talking points. And even in modern day shows with a white male lead they surround him with women so they can “improve him”.
Hurts me to say because like you said in the 90s/early 00s or prior I’d give any show a chance but now I am very wary of newer shows. I watch a lot of old stuff now and watch old BBC stuff on streaming. Like the other day I was watching leave it to Beaver reruns. So nice to see a traditional nuclear family.
Because race isn't everything? Or shouldn't be. That's Leftist talk.
Female protagonist.
Minority protagonist.
Interracial couples.
LGBTBBQ nonsense.
You can tell from the poster/promo images 90% of the time.
But really its a blessing in disguise. The universe is encouraging you to stop consuming and to start learning and creating.
What's the point of creating... say, a movie... if people never enjoy it by 'consuming'?
Pretty much the same for the creation of art. If you're making something for the purpose of pleasing other people, you're making a product. Without that motive, you're pretty much left with self-satisfaction. There's typically an overlap, and sometimes it's painfully obvious where the line was drawn.
All movies from 2014ish onwards are woke until proven otherwise. The newer the movie, the more likely it is to be woke.
Is it John Wick? No? Then it's woke.
Pro-Tip: Stop watching all movies and television shows. Best decision I’ve made. Haven’t seen a movie or tv show in six years. Would not even know now how to carve out time to waste on it if I wanted to.
It is a complete and utter waste of time, like sports.
Look at the main characters (who you'll recognize in the first few minutes if not the poster). Woke movies never, ever will have a straight, White male as the lead and will often have the progressive stack in place before the ink on the script is even dry so expect Black, Brown, Yellow or whatever or a White woman being led or helped by a Black male. The White male, when he shows up, will inevitably be dumb as dogshit and a burden to the group. See: Black Summer.
I always wanted a site where I could tell which companies were woke/ non political. Doing the same for media like television, movies and games seems like a great idea
Exactly, if we were in a reverse situation this would be all over the place. If you had to imagine such a site, to what other site would you think it should look like? I was thinking something where you could list per tags (such as year, type of movie, etc) and rate movies based on how woke they are. Then you can either search for a movie you want to check or just sort by unwoke and rating (from 1 to 10) for your tags for a movie you have not seen yet.
Personally I'm not the most computer centric so I may not be the most help. For me a site with a functional search bar with a side bar that has varying options like tags, type of movies, years etc is all I need haha. I do like most of your ideas though and think they would work. This site would be based from user reviews so I think the biggest thing is make the interface simple and easy to use.
Was the movie made after 2010? Then it's probably woke trash.
If it is made/supported by Disney or any of their 10000 subsidiaries, it is "woke". Overtly. There's been news stories about them turning away scripts because there weren't woke, and how that went against their Diversity key.
That should cut out about 70% of movies made, to start on the other tactics.
If it's dripping with it's woke fucking bullshit it's woke. There's no such thing as half way woke.
Booksmart is the last big movie I saw that was woke. I only finished it cuz it had 98% Tomatoes rating and I was waiting for it to get good. It created a false reality and then built bullshit on top of it. That's the definition of Woke.
Its safer to assume that any modern film is woke unless proven otherwise. Some easy clues is when they race/gender swap established characters. Or if they insert people of the wrong ethnicity into a film (like putting black people in a movie set in medieval Europe, for example). Or force an interracial romance. None of these are per se woke, but they usually mean that the film is woke. Also, another clue is if the critic scores are really high but the viewer scores are low.
