The lead appears to be an absolute cuck
The disrespectful framing is enough to warrant a refund. Nothing to do with their shitty causes - I want my money back because they're devoting time and effort to their gay little hobby instead of the game, then putting that stuff in the game as if they were actually doing work.
...and here are their names.
THIS is how they're going to start going after people, doxing their CC information.
How exactly are you providing a 'safe space' when you maliciously spin disagreement with your cult?
Silly question.
I was planning on buying gloomhaven for a long time but apparently Frosthaven (the game) needs to address the colonialism and how races enforce harmful stereotypes.
This people have leftism rotting their brains. And they made the statement after they gathered 12mil on kick starter.
Why are stereotypes bad? Stereotypes, good and bad ones, is what give races an identity, dwarfs are suppose to be pigheaded and stoic and elves gentler and snobbish. Stereotype characters are incredibly useful to try to present a culture of people.
Let me get a gay flamboyant arab to represent United Emirates? Or a black muslim to represent Japan? I assume there must be a black muslim in Japan but that would make for a horrible way to represent Japan.
Sorry for the rant, I just can't take this bullshit in RPGs that make things worse for everyone in order to address an issue that exists only in their heads.
They claim to "love diversity", but they want everything to be the same. One planet, one species, one culture, one government. LITERALLY.
This is really it, they mean "hemogony", and "diversity" is straight up a lie used as cover for it.
Well, yeah. They celebrate a potential future when white people don't exist because everyone is the color of Starbucks coffee.
The fuck of it is, Gloomhaven doesn't have the standard fantasy races anyway other than humans, so you can build your own stereotypes. You've got Quatryls (sorta gnomey), Aesthers (sorta precursory), Vermlings (sorta ratty), Orchids (sorta monky - no, not monke, "like a monk"), Valraths (sorta demony), Savvas (sorta rock-monstery), Inox (sorta barbarian/Klingony), and demons (elementals, they're just elementals - probably why they're not playable).
Except within that always tended to shy away from the obvious. Most of the rock-monster Savvas are elemental mages (and not always earth - a Savvas Icestorm is a water/air expert), except for the outcasts. The horned-and-spade-tailed Valraths aren't very demonic at all beyond looks - hell, the paladin knockoff Sunkeeper is a Valrath.
Frosthaven was supposed to be about an inhospitable outpost being turned into a viable home. I guess that's colonial but it's also your classic man-vs.-the-elements kind of conflict. None of this is a reason to get triggered or hire some "expert" grifter who writes for Extra Credits, damn it.
They only need to add the Whitey race as the True Evul everybody bands against.
With Adorf Drumpf as King Fruher of course.
I didn't read all of his long ass letter.. but the jist was.. saying "all" of this race behaving like "this", should be thought of as incorrect. Which is true.
As well as is even calling them "races" correct? Should it be species? Makes sense.
Simple lore fixes. OK.
The problem I had. Why does it take hiring a freaking race expert, and a long winded public apology full of SJW crap to make what seems like simple changes?
Because it's not about simple changes.
It's about power.
A while back, I came across a book about censorship in text books. Regarding political correctness on the left, they commented that their goal seemed to be to have all photos, illustrations, and written examples depict the exact opposite of what's commonly observed.
I'm not sure if it's a hindsight related fallacy or not, but I've become suspicious of products that get wide promotion and hype.
Back when Gloomhaven was new, it seemed like it was the talk of the town for lack of a better term.
Now consider that leftist will never allow themselves to promote or endorse anything that doesn't score high enough in their purity tests.
That leads to the only conclusion that anything that gets hyped big in SJW-infested communities like board games is exclusively because it is woke enough to get promoted / astroturfed. Thankfully, like video games, the under-the-radar indies are still discoverable (for now).
I have the same attitude towards anything with a female protagonist created after about 2014.
Every creator knows the score; if your protagonist is female, then the radical leftists will put your character under a woke microscope, determine if it meets specifications, and destroy you if it doesn't.
Ergo, if you're not hearing about how problematic a female protagonist is, then that female protagonist must meet the approval of radical leftists - and I have no interest in anything that meets with the approval of leftists.
So now I straight up avoid any media with female protagonists. Saves me the time and effort of discovering the same thing over and over again: that female protags in current year are a near-100% indicator for woke garbage.
Didn't used to be this way. I will gladly engage with female-led media pre-2015 or so. A lot of good media falls into that category. But new media, for me, must start with a male protagonist. Because that's one of the surest signs that it isn't leftist garbage.
You're generally safe with animu big bob waifubait, at least, until the localizers are done their hatchet-job with it.
Some hype, but a lot of it was earned. Gloomhaven is actually damn good. I've played through two full campaigns in it, one with a 3 player group and one with a 2 player group. In the co-op dungeon crawl category, it's easily the best game out there.

The lead designer literally hired a commissar to watch over the game's development.
As someone who took academia's runaway Marxism very seriously in 2014, I still never imagined it would matastisize into what's happening today.
Oh, balls. I loved Gloomhaven and I was eager for Frosthaven (Forgotten Circles was dogshit but he didn't work on that much - conversely, Jaws of the Lion was great) especially now that its main competitor, Fantasy Flight's Descent, has gone woke....
Damn it Isaac, you were the Chosen One!
Descent second edition was completed just before woke stuff got in to it, luckily since I have all the collection except some lieutenants. I would rather buy the first edition then their new crap.
Lmfao at the people in the comments projecting and getting offended at the thought of people getting offended
Hmm I still got the video game version on my steam wishlist.
