The only way I would allow a business to show me ads is if they are extremely short and simple. I literally skip, one way or another, every single ad in every content medium I use. I read digital magazines with the 'text-only function so I see no graphics, adblocking on my browser, don't use any mobile apps for video or music, I download podcasts after they are completed and listen later so I can skip the ads the hosts manually read, and I download music and listen on my own media players. I fucking hate ads.
That said, if the advertising industry would change the way to do business, I could see giving in to 'see' ads. They would have to be about 5 seconds long, at the longest. There would only be 2 ads, maximum, in any advertising 'block', and no more than 3 'blocks' per show. Tell me the product name and what it does, and who sells it. That is all. If you can't do that in 5 seconds, I don't fucking care about it. If I wanna know more, I will visit their website.

I think what he is saying is that not everyone is you. Or us. There is an endless series of young people that 'come of age' mentally every single day, and THOSE people WILL learn from this sort of exhibition. I suspect the politicians are trying their best to water down this effect by throwing open the doors to any/all immigration instead of using a merit-based immigration system. Which is the WORST of both worlds. The only way those shithole nations will ever improve is if their entire political system is burned down and every single person serving any role in government is killed. That was our mistake in Iraq. The 'old guard' must DIE so that the seeds of some kind of democracy at least has a chance to take root. It's no shock to find out that attractive people have persistent and wide-ranging benefits in most areas in life that normal people don't have, but it is nice to have some evidence. As virtual worlds become more likely (eventually it will be very similar to Ready Player 1), we will see less of this discrimination due to humans being able to pick idealized avatars to represent themselves online.

With a very simple ad-blocking setup you won't see any ads at all. They probably spend more time and money figuring out ways to track people evading account bans than they make in ad revenue!
