There's a grocery store near me that lets you pay to have your produce cut at the store by an employee. Sometimes I wonder what the endgoal of such a service is.

It was a great idea in theory. I learned too late just like many others that our "information age" was really a "misinformation age".

You for real? This sounds like a joke. What a price to pay for a small thing.

about 2 months ago all of my accounts on Reddit that had either suffered a one sub or multiple sub ban were banned site wide as well as my sleeper accounts laying in wait to be used

Interesting, that's approximately when my reddit account got flagged for "suspicious activity". They say I can have my account back if I reset my password, but I really can't be bothered. I only ever had the one account, so I attributed it to me looking at financial subs like superstonk.

Perhaps we both got caught up in some wider net.

No chat function, but there is a direct messaging one. You go to a user's profile page and click 'send message'.

I don't think I have any special insight into the topic, but you can message me if you want. I also don't believe the thread gets bumped when new comments are added (I've conversed at length in thread comments here before).

What I'd really like is some kind of way to make personal notes about users I interact with, so I can remember things easier.

Thanks. I've been wondering how a prison island could end up like this, and I guess I can dismiss the vector of nature trying to kill you more than normal.

I wouldn’t wanna fuck with a bear, I’ve seen the revenant.

Man, I have heard so much stuff about bears that I really don't know what to believe. Play dead, climb trees, walk backwards - not eager to verify. At least we have decent weapons if we wanna go deep wild camping.

I've actually traveled to some of my nearest swamplands to sightsee for gators, but they proved hard to find. You can find them in your yard (swamp family claims this) if you live in rural swampy areas, that shit's scary if you're just outside doing chores.

I suppose urbanization is a sufficient force to protect humanity from wildlife.

I hope you're keeping fit, shit's looking bad on the human level.

However bad you think it is, triple it.

Give it to me straight: which is worse, the wildlife or the government? I've always heard that your wildlife is almost as bad as China's.

I'd go for that, I advocate for a reduction of societal scale (I view cities as abominations). In my vision of a perfect world, there'd be lots of homesteading. Seeing a return of travelling merchants would be neat, though it comes with snake oil salesmen. Travelling services like doctors would be pretty interesting, though I imagine the highest-skilled service nomads would desire a stable home - unless they're just really into the nomad lifestyle.

Being a homesteader means being skilled enough to make everything work, but that generally means you won't master any particular skill. So one might need outside aide to do a complex upgrade of some kind.

Also, there's the obvious solution of working online. But I find it hard to suggest that seriously, for some reason.

Nomad as in rootless, right?

I strongly considered a form of it in the past. I forget the exact job title, but it was being one of the guys that helps open new restaurants for a corporate chain. Big overtime hours because you're training retards that can't work, while at the same time managers suck your dick because they're told you're the best no matter how bad you fuck up. Seemed like the expected travel rate was to only stay in a city for 2-6 weeks at a time. I'm sure there's other jobs like it. Major downside being that you don't really get to choose where you're sent to next.

The more comfortable type of this is probably working some non-job like a highly paid consultant that preys upon the weakness and ignorance of ceos.

If we had a high-trust society, you could just wander around and work odd jobs anywhere you pleased.

Does blocking actually do anything for you? It changes nothing for me.

There is no real justification to use lethal force on a prostitute

Being told they're hiv+ after the act. I'd only trust a condom so much, but then again I don't fully understand the mentality of a man that pays for sex. Definitely violates the NAP to not disclose std status when arranging the deal.

Probably doesn't apply to this case, though.

Yeah, I might have to shop for such a monitor. Double checked all the monitors in my house right now and none of them have the right port jacks.

I didn't really care about it that much until I realized just how bad these modern digital tvs are. Had a really nice crt but it got fucked in a flood, so was forced to "upgrade".

It's becoming rare to find a dumb tv in a real world store. I may have to aim for a computer monitor when my current tv craps out, if I can find one with decent port access. Hopefully "smart" never comes to monitors.

If a society must endure such women, then I wonder if there could be a release valve program for them. Something safer, like having taxes funneled into rescue shelters for dogs. Maybe give them a livestream to monitor the dogs they (everyone's taxes) funded. Since I know they don't want to perform any of the nurturing themselves. Not a perfect solution, but an improvement.

hoons

Slang?

This wouldn't be much of a remedy, but perhaps they have some paper license for this purpose? It's bad enough getting the "papers, please" treatment, but being expected to put special software on your phone is a big ask.

I'm wondering now if the cops have been hiring extra recently, there. I do not suggest this, but it sounds like a path of low resistance is to join the bad guys. I'm not a fan of trying to fix broken systems while becoming a part of them. I'm sure you'd feel terrible being compelled to treat your neighbors like shit, besides.

I have to "check in" on my fucking smart phone

And if you don't have a smart phone..?

He believed that law would spark change, but in his ignorance to social structures of the nation he was in, it did nothing.

I remember him desiring a multinational domino effect. Obviously he was wrong about how that would come about. I don't remember the wording well enough to say whether that was a proper goal for him; he seemed to have no doubts about causation, so he only needed the one simple goal of pushing legislators.

I don't think either of us will change our view on that. You're focused on it being proof of lone actors being futile. I'm focused on it being proof that stupid plans are futile.

Never heard of "walking something back"?

It has actually been more than 10 years since I've heard the expression, but I do still hear variations of it (my locale changes the verb). I've never heard your variation before - you completely dropped the "something" so it looked like you wanted me to walk myself back to some place. You also said back in plural, so I couldn't be sure it wasn't some foreign saying.

But, sure, it might look like I abandoned my original point. I accomplished my goal and then (implicitly) stated what the goal was. Then I started talking for fun. I thought it'd be a lot weirder to stop talking immediately.

I think I've done the opposite of a motte and bailey. I brought forward the naughty part first and now I'm entertaining the politically correct part. I'm also not trying to convince you of anything (I'd need to explain liberty to do that). This is a type of negotiation tactic, so I can understand you being on guard.

Did anything come of that New Zealand shooter that had his accelerationist stance on the society, or did a gun law get passed

Did you read his manifesto? That was one of the things he wanted, because it suited his accelerationism. He completed his goals. They just weren't good goals.

But don't sit there and advocate for anything that would get me killed or imprisoned

I actually would recommend peaceful solutions if at all possible. I have heard nothing to suggest how possible it may be over there. It's in the best interest of most governing bodies to keep its citizenry feeling like they have some method by which their problems can be resolved without violence. Especially a government which wishes to hold a monopoly on violence.

I do want the best for others, and for them all to decide what that entails. I suppose I'm being a bit of a stereotypical american by suggesting violence, considering how our independence came about.

But you are not here in Australia, and you do not know the social structure and just how compliant the people are.

I'd welcome any insight you have for this. I've heard another aussie poster here mention it, but he was a bit too mopey to strike at the heart of the matter.

I'll even be explicit and ask: are there peaceful options remaining for your country?

Take your walk backs

I have no idea what this means, is it an aussie curse?

Take a look at the protests from 21/8, and then look at the responses from officials. Notice how they didn't back down or even consider anything

Well, yeah. If you're a power-mad tyrant, you would never admit to a mistake or surrender power. You'd double down at every turn. Why should you care about some filthy peasants? Who has the authority to deny anything you declare?

We see this type of insanity often around here (as it fuels new topics of discussion for us), but we have no real means of correction. Luckily, most of the looneys don't achieve power over lives. From what I can tell, the expectation is that they'll eventually be eaten by their allies because all of their allies are power-hungry just like them. Terrible mess, though, and a real pity to behold.

Probably an uhelpful extreme, but since you want durability, you can check the Toughbook line of laptops. I think it's standard for them to have shock absorbers around the hard drive. Some models are bullet-proof. I had one for a few years, loved it - but I was playing DOS games on it. Rubber keyboard sucks, though.

Autistic answer: it's intended to infantilize "stormfags". Perhaps it does for people that use the term "stormfag".

It always reminds me of when an adult responds to something they don't like with baby cry sounds, generally followed by a look of self-satisfaction because that was such a perfect imitation of their opponent and the possibility that they diminished their own dignity never appears in their minds.

1
evilmathmagician 1 point ago +1 / -0

I could ask what is, but there's no point in answering if you think I'm a bad faith actor. The conversation is basically over anyway, since you've withdrawn your effort.

The only reason I "glowed" is because the alternative is to perform the very dull back-and-forth that I can find on 4/pol/. It creates an unsubtle argument vacuum, with many baits like "why doesn't anything happen" and "no one will do anything" (designed to make lurkers consider violence while being too afraid to speak of it). I have no intention of allowing this space to fall into such a mire.
