So grooming kids into thinking maps are a good thing? Typical Disney.

I disagree with the premise of the Fermi paradox, which is the assumption that the universe must be teeming with alien civilizations. On the contrary, I'd argue they're extremely rare, and so it's not paradoxical that we haven't seen any evidence of them.

Assuming the Fermi paradox is a real thing, which I would argue it's not.

Pro-EU and pro-free market are not even close to the same thing. If the real stakeholders in European politics don't want to see the Finns in power, they will bully or bribe the establishment parties to keep them out. If they are able to participate in government, it will mean that they're likely just as co-opted and ineffectual as the Sweden Democrats have turned out to be.

That seems like a very fragile coalition. Finns and the Swedish People's Party are not all that compatible, and wouldn't Movement Now need to get at least 5% to gain list seats?

The Finns party is polling at 20%, neck in neck with the Socialists and the Eurocrat "centre-right" party. If that's how the parliament ends up, the most likely result is a grand coalition of the KOK and the Social Democrats with a couple of other "centrist" parties in order to lock the Finns out of government.

Your facts and statistics have nothing on my lived experience.

Yes, polls out of Georgia, which definitely voted for Biden in the last election, can absolutely be trusted.

I think the courts should force him to pay a billion dollars to the families of the victims. Nothing else will do.

Motivations matter. Rowling is the kind of commie lunatic who demands her right to free expression at the same time she demands you be silenced. Here she is reducing the complex issue of gender politics down to the simplest of Marxist terminology. She opposes trannification not because she's concerned for the welfare of children or committed to biological realism, but because she hates men and resents the idea that they can escape their staus as oppressors by choosing to become women.

Autistic kids are actually the most frequent targets of tranny indoctrination from teachers and so-called therapists, because their behavior is often non-conforming and their delayed social development means they don't have as much resistance to emotional manipulation as other kids.

He actually made a couple of random male side characters in Wheel of Time gay, for no apparent reason. I remember being annoyed about it. Jordan made tons of references to lesbian sex, the old perv, but he never mentioned male homosexuality, and none of Sanderson's "so-and-so prefers men" additions had any plot relevance, so it really seemed like a virtue signal.

Yeah I do somewhat agree, and I certainly think Lotus Eaters especially could do more to boost their alt tech presence. I don't think it would cost too much to, for example, just let the guys swear, air the uncensored videos on Odysee or Rumble and censor them for YouTube.

7
dagthegnome 7 points ago +7 / -0

It's much easier for individual creators like Styx or Nick Rekieta to move their primary presence to alt tech and still maintain a decent income from it. Organizations like Lotus Eaters need a gross profit margin above a certain percentage in order to sustain themselves, because Sargon is paying at least a dozen employees. Monetization on platforms like Rumble just doesn't facilitate that kind of thing: not because the audience is smaller, but because they are not yet technologically on par with YouTube.

There are ways around it, like what Crowder has done with Mug Club, and I don't know how many subscribers the Lotus Eaters website has, but it's probably not enough to keep the lights on and pay everybody's salary without YT income. Rumble is probably the most business-savvy alternative in terms of profitability, although I still prefer Odysee's UI, but both of them are still much less accessible to casual viewers than YouTube is.

dagthegnome 7 points ago +7 / -0

It would, but I think it's really just an excuse for more censorship. Lotus Eaters did air a few segments on the bank collapses, but other creators I watch, including a lot of pop culture guys whose content has nothing to do with that, have all said that their engagement and subscriber growth has suddenly stalled to almost nothing after a decent period of growth.

YT is on a major censorship binge right now because a bunch of state and federal lawmakers (both parties) started making noises about censoring discussion about the SVB collapse and related issues on social media, ostensibly in order to prevent a run on the banks. If it's being said in public, you can be sure some three-letter agencies reached out to YT and other tech companies in private and told them to put the boot down.

They already had a second season of Velma produced and ready for release before the first aired, so it was always going to happen. It remains to be seen if it continues after that, but this is an indication that HBO doesn't think Scooby Doo as a franchise is profitable, which amounts to an admission that Velma is a failure.
