There's a concept in karate sparring called "mubobi" where judges will stop a match if one of the competitors isn't fighting back. To this day I have no idea why, but my out of the box copy of Super Mario All Stars had some kind of glitch in Mario 3 where, if you pushed Select before getting your first power up, for the rest of thr game it would cycle through all of them, up to the hammer suit (no P wing, though). If you pushed Select and B at the same time, you'd get a boot, even in levels where it shouldn't have been possible, resulting in random graphics being used.
