Did Trump's team fake an attempt? What seems most likely is that Trump has gone full globalist and he's made a deal to cinch the election. This event completely favours him and it would be trivial to fake that injury. Further, even if they had succeeded it's highly likely that every Trump voter would have either shifted to the GOP replacement or gone through with an actual insurrection, so why would the deep state (who must be involved) want to kneecap their current candidate?
My thought is: Trump knows what game he's playing and is leveraging his present clout with the people to get paid. In return, he'll steer his (now rabid) followers the way his bosses want.
