100% agreed!
Yeah, I ask my parents how they can tolerate any modern shows?
I'm 33 and I'm sticking to old shows I've never seen, from the 50s and later.
When my grandpa was my parents age, he stuck to watching Columbo, Gunsmoke, sports (it wasn't woke at that time) and a few other westerns and nothing else.
Now I'm like my grandpa, minus the sports, but my parents are always looking for something new to watch.
To be fair, it's driven by my mom. My dads not a big TV guy so he doesn't care one way or another that much, he's just watching with his wife. My mom was depressed growing up in the 70s and so she has trouble watching old stuff. But when my mom seeks out old non woke, she still typically won't go older than like 2007 or so.
Too old and she can't get past the acting because she thinks it feels too dated.
To me, I'm far more engaged in the acting, characterization, etc of older shows and movies. It feels far more true to life to me.
Agreed. You have a discerning eye. Good to see.
I figured the case. Good to have confirmation. I could tell from a distance I wanted no part of it and I didn't buy the "wow this show is based" bullcrap.
No, the third one on rpcs3 doesn't run great.
But I have to play it there. I could get the PS4 version but the problem is, I've never been able to tap buttons fast enough when they make you rapidly press circle in a quick time event.
When I rented x men wolverine the god of war knock off on PS3, I couldn't progress past the sentinel fight because I couldn't mash circle fast enough.
On PC I can and do use a controller with a turbo function so I can get past those otherwise game enders for me.
The frame rate on God of War 3 is a bit all over the place but it's the only way I can play it and ensure I can get past annoying parts. Maybe they have PS4 controllers with turbo functions but I don't want to spend money for a controller just for that game.
Consoles typically don't support turbo functions because of cheating and online. If my 8bitdo controller can connect to PS4, and turbo works, I'll probably play it there
I heard theyre not as good, but I figure after the third one, just some hack n slash fun, not expecting much. They run pretty much perfect on the hd remaster on rpcs3 (PS3 emulator).
Just will be playing it for some somewhat similar gameplay, not expecting it to be as good or "epic"
I'd say the difference between the old "what have I become" and modern is (Spoilers ahead)
"what have I become, killing my own family by accident because I got goaded into by deception and my pride by the God of War, after selling my soul to him to win in battle, and now I'm sad I killed my family, but I'm going to make him pay even if I get cast into hell itself (hades) and have to crawl back out and take him out dethroning him"
and "what have I become....a violent and unapologetically masculine man that is at odds with modern liberal values...the horror!"
Max Payne had a bit of self-loathing in his original game[s], things tinged with tragedy, his family getting killed, and reflections on if he's more of a cop or a criminal in the second game with choices he makes in terms of murder if I remember the plot, but it's a far cry from mopeyness. That key word there is "bit". It's not the predominant defining characteristic. There's a line between intentional tragedy in writing and feminine "critique on masculinity" and Max Payne and original God of War games fall squarely in the former category and things like Max Payne 3, God of War reboot, Star Wars reboots, etc fall squarely in the latter category.
I didn't grow up with it. Played the first one from 2005 about 8 months ago for the first time.
Playing God of War 2 now. Will play God of War 3 and the PSP games and never touch the reboot.
I'm not "they ruined my childhood, Kratos was my guy and he was so awesome to me and they did this to him", like that.
I just objectively see that God of War PS2 and PS3 era is just some pulpy testosterone fueled Greek adventure, like a Jason and the Argonauts sort of deal on steroids and meth, whereas the reboot is clearly a feminine "muh modern writing" garbage.
Yeah I'm not team "Kratos 4 lyfe" like I am with Max Payne, a character I really love, but I recogonize the difference in the characterization objectively.
Same with Doctor Who. I don't give a crap about Doctor Who. Don't watch it. But I can see from a distance what they're doing with that character as opposed to what it used to be.
I've posted this video before on the gaming sub, but posting again because I had the urge to watch the video again and when I saw the comments I wanted to make a point. Sort by upload date and you will see the debate rages on with this game in particular.
GoW 2018 and Ragnarok is probably the hinge point for leftists who don't know they're leftist vs the actually based.
Every other video game, it's an easy split. If you call Starfield woke for pronouns, everyone who is not a leftist agrees and everyone who is a leftist calls you a chud.
But GoW reboot series is where the rubber meets the road where some people who don't know a humiliation ritual when it's looking them in the face and are dazzled by what seems like "deep" "character growth" go "masculinity isn't about violence....they're showing positive masculinity"
And since it's such a split in the comment section I suspect this is the lynch pin for "moderates" unlike other games where they couldn't care that much one way or another.
But GoW writing's has to be deep and profound and not subversive to them because they've elevated it in their minds as "art" and "developing Kratos' making him deeper" as though development means making someone a naval gazing person who's always down on themselves and "who they used to be".
Max Payne 3 did the same sort of thing with the character of Max Payne. Instead of the Humphrey Bogart esque noirish cynic with a dark sense of humor, Max Payne became a "woe is me, I'm such a loser white American".
Similar sort of writing style that people mistake for depth.
Again, watch the video, then scroll through the comments sorted by new and see how this is the game culturally where it separates the boys from the men (sort of literally in this case ie soyboys from the men).
Under the Mayo also did a video critiquing the game and his comment section is similar.
I know, I guess I just don't get out much. It's probably more common than I realize. I'm just a right wing chud I guess.
To continue using the Occulus software you need to put your birthday in for some reason or you won't get access to the account anymore.
I don't have any facebook tied VR headset, but with a Vive you can play Occulus games using a program called "revive", so I just have the occulus app for a few exclusives that are worth a crap, but a Vive Pro (2018) as my actual headset.
Anyways, when going to put in my birthday, I was presented with the typical American family, I think we can all agree.
What bands and music do you like?
There's definitely outliers and exceptions in any time period. I'm sure you could find Gen Z'ers who are into 1930s jazz or something.
There is a broad trend of not liking rock that started with Gen Z. Boomers, Gen X, and Millennials all pretty much liked rock music equally.
Gen Z is the first generation that has basically no appreciation for rock on a larger scale, acknowledging there are always exceptions.
It's sad. In my opinion, if you don't like rock; that's kind of gay, like literally in the homosexual sense. There's something about if Alice in Chains Man in the Box comes on on the radio and you turn it off in favor of some retarded pop or rap or EDM, that's kind of gay.
There's something masculine about rock above other genres of music and the fact that Gen Z can't recognize it is concerning.
Like I get they didn't grow up with it, but I didn't grow up with Star Trek. It was never on in my house, but I recognize that Captain Kirk is a chad and that's why I now like TOS despite never growing up with it.
You should be able to recognize testosterone when you come across it and the fact that the times when they do hear some of the best rock, it doesn't register as "this kicks tons of butt" tells me something is off with their testosterone levels.
So tons of people in the Bible are degenerates?
Revelation describes music in heaven. You're calling heaven degenerate?
There is degenerate music. Music itself is not degenerate.
How is classical music where there's no lyrics whatsoever degenerate?
Agreed, as u/throwawayaccount2037 said, the Bible spoke about women's nature that unfortunately a lot of the church has ignored, rather adopting the liberal culture view of the sexes.
Society was always meant to keep the worst elements of human nature at bay.
Women are more easily decieved, more emotional, and less principled and typically need a moral man to lead. Without boundaries men will also eventually end up being immoral and decadent, like with Romans, a pagan society, what happens when they reject God, but women for some reason are more prone towards an accelerationist self-destruction and even non-Christian societies where the men are holding the reigns back a bit and creating a bit more traditional society, the society at least functions better and has more lawfulness than a society where women have no reigns on them.
I agree with you on the why. Women are like a kid in a candy store. Society is supposed to say "no, you can't eat only candy"
When society says "go eat all the candy you want" suddenly everyone's got cavities and their teeth are falling out and are looking for someone to blame. "Well maybe if men allowed us to eat even more candy our problems would be fixed"
No, sweetheart, you have to put down the candy bar and start brushing your teeth. Women are averse to personal responsibilty so society needs to act as the responsibilty enforcers for women. Whoever were the ones that were foolish enough to take down that enforcement deserves to get more than a slap in the face.
Yeah exactly!
I think you're missing my point. I'm saying this is the correct attitude, efficiency, speed, etc to take with criminals. I'm not talking about her so much as giving a contrast to how police treat black criminals. With them, they can be 10x as terrible, but the police will be patient beyond what is normal.
That's why I titled it, "Not that this woman is being mistreated" because she isn't.
She's being treated like a criminal who is lying, faking, etc. If you do that, you should expect a worse treatment from police.
My post was just a comparison to show police fake their patience with black people and let it out when it's the right demographic.
How she acts is like a mild average way that black people interact with police....actually she's way less confrontational than the average black police cam. But the anger of the cops, I think it's really the anger they bottle up inside with the black criminals behavior; and cops unleash it when there's a demographic that "society allows them to".
With black body cams police are patient as saints with black belligerence, because they have "too look good and the optics" to the public, but it eats away at them and this is the attitude they would have with black criminals if society allowed them to. It's the correct attitude and speed of efficiency with dealing with a criminal. The being walked over for 20 minutes until they finally arrest with black criminals while explaining themselves 30 times over and over is the wrong way but they air quotes "have to do it".
That comeback is brilliantly clever. I could see Ricky Gervais saying that.
You're so wrong....Yesterday I was cleaning my room and I had 3 ICE agents swarming me going "not touching you, not touching you, not touching you" while getting close like they were going to touch me. It was so annoying.
I've been harrassed like 4 times by ICE agents. They just show up in my game room and will disconnect my gamepad when I'm about to beat the boss battle....It's highly frustrating.
These students sound like high schoolers or middle schoolers at the youngest and the lesson is delivered and recieved like a kindergarten class.
"Can I hear you say 'The duck makes a quack sound'? Very good class"!
the "ohhhhh" from the students when he says things is like children. It's embarrassing.
Me and my friends would troll teachers for fun. Anyone who would be like this in a class would be leaving with a lower self esteem when and where I grew up.
A little anecdote, I moved in tenth grade to a liberal city. It's literally my first day of school, and during this orientation thing, this teacher for some reason I have no idea how it got here or why, he was this hispanic guy and started saying how "people say 'what race are you' and that's a bad way to ask that question....yadda yadda yadda" I was kind of dumbfounded. Again, this is the first day of school, typical orientation day. This guy wasn't even a teacher I ever had again, just some guy and I don't even know why this is a topic that's being brought up. When class was over and everyone's walking towards the door and saying bye, I walk by him and go "Hey, I wanted to know, what race are you?"
The look on his face, he was like taken aback, couldn't believe the gall.
I still think about that moment fondly...it sort of makes me happy.
This is one of those videos that if I could instantly make 100% of all people see it, getting played right in their brain; I'd do it. It's one of the few videos I'd do.
Thomas Sowell's Equity: the Thief of human potential is one of the other ones.

If it sounds like a joke, comparing a 16 minute brilliant takedown of modern values to a AI video, it's not.
Not everything effective lands because it's intellectual. Some things like art or comedy can be more effective in sending the message.
In the movie they even say "he's not transexual" which makes me roll my eyes.
Hannibal Lector on diagnosing him says "he's not transexual, but he thinks he is"
Because they were being politically correct back then.
I'm like yeah, Mr lector.....that's the definition of 100% of all the "transexuals". They all think they are because it's a delusion.
But the movie framed it as though there's legitime ones and illegitimate ones because they didn't want the serial killer to "portray a negative stereotype mmmmkay".
No, they're all illegitimate and buffalo bill is no more or no less than any so called "real transexuals".
For an unapologetic cannibal genius, he sure makes the effort to toe the moronic politically correct line on "sensitive issues like the legitimacy of "trans-ness" in that movie.
What a progressive forward thinker that cannibal is.
EDIT: Interesting parallel with the modern day. So Chris Chan wanted to be "Christine Chandler" and as long as he was just a "lolcow" the Internet used his "preferred pronouns".
Then when he molested his mother, the Internet started debating if he was really trans. Reddit was tied up in knots on whether "misgendering" him was worse or the act he did was worse.
Many landed on "hes not a real transgender....he only did it to try to get a lesbian girl, so we'll call him Chris Chan because what he did makes "trans" look bad.
Interesting how before he did that to his mother he magically was one and you'd be banned if you "dead named him" to suddenly one act makes his legitimacy up for debate.
To this date when people talk about Chris Chan you will have some call him Chris but clarify that they support people's gender identities but Chris isn't a true transgender, and other camps that still call him Christine and she.
AI will even call Chris "Christine" when you explicitly say Chris Chan, so AI falls on the "respecting her identity" side of that schism whereas there was no schism with lefties until he did something that heinous that made them start sweating about which is optically worse.
Pretty close modern day analogue to the Buffalo Bill diagnosis from the film.
Legitimate if you don't make it look too bad, illegitimate if it makes it look bad
