Haven't similar things happened to signal group chats when one person in the group records it and complains? The problem here is that there is a criminal enforcement response to an obvious joke, not that every person on earth doesn't treat every casual conversation as potential threat to their lives. At some point you need to blame authorities rather than their victims.
What "backdoor"? People provided screenshots, the police investigated through normal, lawful means.

This reminds me of the XZ supply chain attack almost installed a backdoor that laid every RHEL server on the internet bare and was obviously state sponsored. Based on commit times the time zones UTC +3 was a likely location for the attackers (ignoring a lot of obvious "hey it's totally China guys" signs, like the hackers username being Jian Tan and having a Singaporean IP).
Which includes both Russia and Israel, and all the software engineers were all like "why are all the Western media outlets totally ignoring this massive potential Russian cyber attack?"... 🤦♂️

It may seem stupid BUT this isn't a criminal trial, it's a hearing to determine IF there's enough merit to the case to proceed TO a trial. There is, even though it will probably fail, the chance of success isn't 0%. IDK what "the bar" is, probably varies wildly, eh?
