Yeah that really was lackluster. Eternal had me day one in but Dark ages, never bothered with.
I notice a pattern with me, don't know if it relates to you guys. Both Doom Eternal and Subnautica fucked over the guys that made their soundtrack which then led to a DEI sequel no one cared as much about.
I tried Destiny 2 a while back. Was pretty fun but incredibly overwhelming, so I spent most of my time riding around the hub worlds enjoying myself and getting into random skirmishes with enemies. It's a fun game but a horrific experience learning how to actually play the game.
It was such a departure from the fundamentals that the first game established. I could not believe just how fucking hard they missed the mark. I gave that game an honest try, I really did, but after I clipped through the floor I just uninstalled it and didn't look back. Absolute waste of an opportunity.
Fucking over "secondary" contributors is usually a sign of flailing and internal turmoil. While the saying is "get woke, go broke", it's not a cause-and-effect so much as two effects from the root cause "be stupid: Become woke, and also go broke".
Bad companies fuck over secondary contributors, and bad companies embrace DEI. Not so much a pattern as "people likely to suffer from one stupid-related ailment, are much more likely to also suffer from another stupid-related ailment".
Why I was glad I heard buying the subnautica soundtrack went to the maker more than the studio, his stuff is relaxing as hell, except Abandon Ship, that makes you want to bop to despite hearing means shits about to implode lol.
I hadn't kept up, but I'm glad to see that a lot of denuvo games are getting cracked latey. Used to be that no-one took up the mantel after the two mega autists with the patience to catalogue the hooks got chased off.
Come to think of it, I wonder what are the odds that vibe coding and/or telling AI to do the boring shit is what broke that system again.
Maybe I download it and try. Even though they burned me with Eternal, I was going to give the newest one a shot if it ever made it to GOG. Which seems like will be never anyway, so might as well stop waiting and take advantage.

The id executive in charge of Doom's soundtrack is a true psychopath. Liar, thief, no morals, the whole works.
Is he jewish? Just curious.
His name is Marty Stratton so mayhaps no, but he seems to like rubbing his hands together so...
It's involuntary. Like zorak from space ghost.
Halo, too.Edit: Actually, it was during Destiny's development that Bungie gave Marty O'Donnell the boot.Wait really? It can't have been the guy that made the legendary notes that can make every guy hum in tune together?
My bad, it was Destiny and Bungie
I was about to say, their studios would BURN if they hit THAT guy.
Though current Bungie not doing well, heard Marathon not doing the numbers and Destiny seems to just not have a coherent experience for new players.

Oh ohoh an ahhhh
I despise Doom Eternal. 2016 for life.

Yep, same thing happened to the Elder Scrolls composer.

Yeah and it's always the soundtrack guys first.
