It's called puberty. Edgy teenager phase because that is when you geta foothold into society and start asking questions why things are how they are. Challenge authority, act out, play the fool. Just to get an idea where you stand. Then you hit early adulthood and the loneliness sets in. The desire for companionship. Which leads to a family. Rinse and repeat. If the family does not happen, the loneliness is compounded, leading to a spiral. That spirals into false hope. Filling a hole you do not understand, but are able to replicate, at least, that's what you think.
The psychology of it isn't that complicated. It's just a poor individual that failed to hit the latter stepping stones of their lives and are stuck in a fantasy.

Different era, 2010 was all about joining the military and fighting for israel. Now people see through the lies and retreat inwards, become lonely, long for female contact and get none. The anime girl obsession is part of that I think. The spergs and lower IQ ones give into the desparation and troon out. Bur most just waste away in the shadows working goyslop jobs.
I never did fast food but I spent years working dead end mcjobs. A lot of the jobs were chill as fuck so I didn't hate the day to day, but my last one was soul killing. I don't know how people do that shit for years on end. Another few months and I would have made the 500 mile drive to go be homeless and work for my old company. At least the old job didn't have me contemplating a Remington retirement every day.

Kids want to be edgy and gritty because they're in a rush to mature.
Adults are familiar with the unpleasant realities of the mature world and wish for a carefree world of sweetness and innocence.

Why do gamers take a meme from reddit, post it on 4chan, then take a screenshot of that on their phone, then post it to ifunny, then download that and crop off the watermark poorly, then add their reddit username to the top left and repost it on reddit again, then save that image and post it on completely unrelated .win board?
