Its the only reason it is a story, as we have hundreds if not thousands of cases of "you called him a nigger, so he was justified" dating back quite a while. I knew a few of them growing up, it was considered "fighting words" and we all just knew it.
The legal concept of "fighting words" strikes me as dumb, or at the very least it's being flagrantly and maliciously exploited to such a degree that it needs to be sent back for review.
Its just an expansion of "crime of passion" wherein we all understand that certain things are so powerful at evoking our emotions that its a mitigating factor on what you do in that state. Like if you walk in on your wife cheating on you, its still wrong to kill him and/or her, but we get it so we let you off lighter.
Its one of many things that works fine in a proper society, where we get it is enough to keep things functional instead of needing to autistically write every letter of every law. But we don't live in that, so it exists just to let niggers and Lefties off with violence over words.

The dumb part is that “nigger” is only considered racist when a white person says it. Black “entertainment” says it a thousand times a day.
Rather than sending it back, it should apply equally. Being called a fascist or a nazi should be a green light to use lethal force.

I mean, saying things like threatening to murder someone is definitely fighting words, if not grounds for worse.
But yes, pure insults is dumb as fuck. Fighting can easily turn into killing. Allowing death over an insult is retarded.
