I’m sick of modern adaptations across the board. They never even try following the source material and just use it to inject the current year trendy diversity. Live action ones are lazy. Although I did enjoy seeing Disney fall on their face with the little mermaid. Getting a white lady with red hair was such and easy move but nope
I actually have a rule. If they inject diversity casting into anything, live action or otherwise (see black people in Frozen 2) I refuse to spend money on it. Witcher, Game of thrones prequel series lord of the ring Amazon series, how to train your dragon live action movie, etc. as soon as I saw a single black person I decided I would never watch them. Period. I don't hate watch because they still helps them. I don't in the hopes others do too, and those projects lose money and stop being made.
Yea. 10 to 20 years ago when race swaps weren’t so common you could’ve convinced me that it’s ok with good writing like Battlestar Galactica. Now I’m like you. They have gone so far off the deep end that I won’t watch. When I saw the casting for wheel of time and rings of power I was like nope. Denzel Washington is one of my all time favorite actors and even if he was in a race swap I wouldn’t watch now
Worst thing about this is that they did it to Corlys Velaryon. You know, House Velaryon, the one famous for having the pale skin, silver hair and purple eyes of Old Valyria
Yes any mention of racewashing main characters is an instant next for me. If they can't even keep the wokeness subtle, then I know that the whole thing will be insufferable
And I hate when they make the disingenuous claim that “they blew me away in the audition” as if it hasn’t been common knowledge that they get rewarded for pointless diversity
Especially with the Disney stuff, because you can't really replicate the cartoon stuff. What was the point of The Lion King "live action" it's all cgi. The live adds nothing new.
And we've seen with Dumbo and Lilo & Stitch they change the stories. I don't get these remarks that do nothing either
not only did The Lion King CG remake not add anything, it's straight up took away so much. in trying to make the lions look realistic, the characters had very little expression.
I hate that live-action film is considered the apex of art and storytelling in our culture, and that all the other mediums are lesser forms unworthy of attention. Outside of being first drafts for a possible film adaptation.
correction: "in curated globohomo culture". and I'm pretty sure it's because Western art schools have failed to teach students how to fucking draw, let alone put on a proper animated production.
I think it's because animation actually is a great medium for conveying things that would be hard to put in love action. Like memes, they condense things.
The left has this war in anime, and I think they might be indirectly related. Anime is pretty based.
They hate anime because they have no real control over it beyond Karen translators deciding what's "problematic" or not and that'll eventually be solved with AI.
Hollywood has been completely conquered by wokeness to the point that they would rather lose hundreds of millions delivering THE MESSAGE than admit there's no real market for it.
In theory, but not when the movie ends up being $200m and is 50% CGI anyway. Typically animation especially 2D animation ends up being a lot cheaper than your typical mainstream live action movie.

There's no point in bothering with "modern adaptions". They don't adapt anything and nothing will beat the source material even if they don't go woke.
True. I am happy just reading the book at this point

Obligatory gimme dem rangz foo
Disgusting imagery but funny tune.
HAHAHAHAHA

It drives me crazy seeing the YouTubers that I normally watch defending this change to this day.
I have adopted this as well. No more support for trash.

That typically translates to "after instantly rejecting anyone White, this bald black woman is the best of the rest"

The same was the How to Train you Dragon, which was basically a shot by shot of the animated, but with worse CGI. "Life Action" my fucking ass.
Of course they had to insert woke shit, like making the negress Ingrid even MORE girlbossy and bitchy. Fucking utter trash.
And the director’s nonsensical explanation as to why he couldn’t cast a girl who looked more like the lead

The point was probably money laundering plus creating jobs in the industry for the invaders.

Cowboy bebop was a war crime
“Live action” but still majority CGI.
And I'm sick of OPs who have no self-control.
From what Reddit says (I still visit, bite me) it’s cheaper & easier to do live action rather than pay animators.
