I wonder whitch jeet changed something in production over the weekend.
In related note, why is everyone on us-east-1 to begin with and how about build some redundancy with a different region anyway? us-east-1 is the most "crowded" region in AWS
That explains why the "global" services like IAM are actually in us-east-1. It does not explain why everyone is deploying on us-east-1. It is non-political, it just bugs me that people keep doing this because most examples are with us-east-1 region.
The state of Maryland shut down 5 power plants even after they were told this action was removing the backup network. It's not a matter of if the grid goes down, it's a when the grid goes down.
A less conspiratorial take, it's where bost of business data flows and the highest population density. Though, more capacity should exist to compensate. Except NY. They have draconian energy policies like Cali.
Literally just shut the fuck up about “less conspiratorial” as though you think it makes you sound sane.
The fucking CIA gave Amazon a contract for $300,000,000 to build servers. Amazon built the servers. Guess who has back-end access. That’s AWS. Always has been. It was Amazon’s first profitable quarter in history. Bezos used the cash to buy the Washington Post, which is now a CIA propaganda outlet.
It’s all public information. They’re not hiding it. This is what happened.
Valorant, Fortnite, PUBG, Genshin Impact, Clash of Clans............basically anything that relies on Amazon's servers to run are all down.
For extra hilarity, the individual servers for these games are just fine, so people are losing their minds thinking something's wrong with their PCs/phones.
Edit: Including the link because the number of affected services keeps growing.
Get used to it. The Peidmont Project is attempting to eminent domain Maryland land for the purpose of VA. MD is not of fan of this. You may want to tell them they should look south for electricity rather than north.
Apparently its some kinda jeet holiday right now, Dewali.. so kinda explains why it is taking forever to come back up lol. Makes sense when half your tech is jeets.

Proximity to Langley, which gave Amazon the contract for AWS in the first place and caused the company’s first profitable quarter in history.

It’s easier for the CIA to keep tabs on them if it’s a short drive away; I just said that.
The DMV ( DC, MD, VA) area has power shortage issues. Now is not a good time to have this area at, or over capacity.
Could you elaborate on this? It's the first I'm hearing of the issue.

My guess is that there's a dropdown menu somewhere and us-east-1 is the first thing on that menu.

I ain't reading all that so kindly eat my ass. No toppings.
Thanks, reported for spam. You’ve conceded the argument and admitted what I said is correct.
Okay? This isn't England, idgaf.
Scream for me, kiddo.
Seems to be a fairly regional outage. The local downdetector here in Germany seems mostly fine.
It's just us-east-1. us-east-2 is fine but for some unknown reason a lot of people deploy to us-east-1 by default despite making no sense.
Wait BOTH Fortnite and Genshin Impact are down...
You'd better hope school is happening today..
Fall break is happening in the US based on region so it sucks to be those kids! Guess they have to go outside.

So nothing of value was lost, you say?
Seems MyFitnessPal also relies on Amazon servers.
NoVa is trying to run what being called an extension cord through MD for electricity. MDers who won't benefit from it are fighting it HARD.
You know what's not down?
My single player games with offline installation executables.

Incompetent jeets on a holiday. Makes sense.
