Looking into it, it is apparently a firm called Silver Lake (based out of Silicon Valley) and is having a significant chunk of money thrown in by a group of Saudi investors.
They are incapable of future planning, they just throw oil money at things and hope for the best. So, I don't think they'll ever reach China's influence. Shame, because they really like the 2000s japanese game aesthetic
To be fair, they threw money at my fave video game company, SNK-Playmore and they're doing decently. They're not popular like Capcom but frankly I don't want DEI faggotry going anywhere near my games.
I was kind of floored to learn they bought Evo. I knew one of the princes was big into SNK and pretty much single-handedly kept that company from going under a while back, but they seem to be expanding their influence beyond a simple pet project for a guy who likes fighting games with nice looking girls.
This is what I'm wondering. My money is on China and Tencent, which would not inspire a whole lot of confidence. However if they just fuck off to the realm of not having to create shareholder value then maybe they can salvage something from the scrap heap that is their company.
Who's buying em?

Ah, the New Jews of the video game world. If it ain't China, it's saudis.

It's not just 'one of the princes', it's MBS himself.
wonder which female character is that saudi prince into from SNK.
Hope they make The Sims playable again
