You don't go to Heaven because you were a good person. Besides Jesus, there are no such thing as good people.
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
this always bothered me, especially it being a passage in Romans, written in a Bible compiled by the Romans. It basically says you can be a bad person, an explicitly bad person, but still go to heaven because you believe in God. how convenient for the conquesting, slave keeping, and sexually promiscuous romans.
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
translation: Please don't sin, pretty please! Just know that your sins are forgiven simply by believing in Christ. no matter how many times you burn villages or fornicate, so long as you believe in Jesus everything will be okay. no need to right your wrongs or anything
Nowhere does it say you won't be punished for sinning. You just won't have to go to hell if you're saved. There's plenty of other kinds of punishments and saved Christians who continue to sin have plenty of regrets in this life and the next.
as written, it seems to be divinely inspired by an incredibly jealous God, who doesn't seem to care about people unless they love him. again, very convenient for the Romans who compiled the Bible.
in my experience, God who is all that is good and just does not behave like that.
Have you seen Unforgiven? There's a line in the movie that is something like, "We all have it coming." This is a statement that epitomizes the thought being expressed. Not one of us will act good enough to deserve Heaven. We only can get to Heaven because of Jesus and God's Grace
Without forgiveness, then the community must turn their back on the sinner and cast them out forever.
If sin can be forgiven, if the sinner changes their ways, stops sinning and strives every day to earn forgiveness, then they may be permitted to contribute to the community, and the community can care for them in turn.
Is it enough? That isn't up to us. God will judge them soon enough.
If they will not stop sinning, then they are excommunicated and cast out. There are not unlimited chances to earn the forgiveness of the community.
Also, bear in mind that Jesus was very clear that people should obey the law. The role of the church is to care for the spiritual needs of a community, not the need for law and justice. That is left to a different, mortal authority.
This is why priests attend and counsel prisoners to be put to death. Even if they have never sinned again, that doesn't erase the past nor undo the judgement of the law. Even if they die with their soul in a state of grace, they are still put to death. What comes after that is up to God.
That’s not what it says. The Bible says you could have done terrible things, but if you repent and seek forgiveness through Christ, you can still be saved.
You don't go to Heaven because you were a good person. Besides Jesus, there are no such thing as good people.

Username checks out. You have to ignore the entire context of the Bible and claim it's not divinely inspired to reach this conclusion
