I can only hope Trump makes the smart move on this, his track record today has been horrendous and he would completely eradicate his goodwill if he follows Israel on this as well.
Marc rubio just come out to say they did it unilaterally and basically tldr theyre on their own, americas focus will be on protecting its troops in the ME
Yeah, but how long will that sentiment last? I have to imagine there are political machinations at work to try to pressure the administration into going balls deep on a war with Iran.
This is false, as U.S. and British jets shot down the drones Iran launched against Israel in retaliation. Our own people, as per usual, are being used as golems to protect Israel from all rightful retaliation. Trump has also just put out a public statement approving of the attacks and saying more death and destruction is headed Iran's way, and that we're actively arming Israel. We're involved in this, up to our eyeballs.
[addition] Apparently the U.S. also provided logistic support to Israel, like refueling tankers for the Israeli jets. There's also the possibility we helped Israel with our own air force, to drop the larger bunker buster bombs, which can only be deployed by U.S. bombers, which Israel (supposedly) doesn't have.
I doubt he'll jump into help Israel on this one. Netanyahu seems to have lost some favor with Trump, and the Arab nations have made major advances, so I suspect both him and the remainder of the Arab states might just let Israel fight on it's own. Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Egypt probably aren't looking to back Iran anyway.
At least from what I have heard, there is a possibility that we are giving non-combat support (like airborne tankers or targeting data) but that we largely told the Israelis they are on their own if they want to do anything.
I also dont know how much it would really change his relationship with the Israelis or Netanyahu. I very much doubt he would be happy about this, and I still think he would have rather had a peaceful solution. But it is worth pointing out that in the last day or two he was seeming more skeptical any negotiations would get anywhere with Iran and had flatly said "Iran will not get Nuclear weapons, under any circumstances." So it's even entirely possible this could be Trump turning to Netanyahu and saying "You want to make yourself useful? Then shit or get off the pot, and stop bugging me about this."
Netanyahu is striking Iran because if his government falls in any way that looks mildly bad on him, he's going to prison for the rest of his life. Dude is in court on some serious corruption charges (plus he sacrificed thousands of Israeli's to gain the ability to try and annex Gaza).
Honestly, there's enough people in the DOD that want Iran bombed that I don't think sharing information to target Iranian facilities was ever gonna be off the table.
It certainly could be that the US is choosing to look the other way on an Israeli strike because the Iranians aren't coming to terms, but it also looks like the Trump foreign policy and diplomatic agenda has well and truly stalled at this point since the admin can't seem to control Russia, Ukraine, Israel, or Iran. It seems like there are just too many people itching for a fight right now.
On the other hand, Israel has show many times in history to simply not give a shit what the Americans are attempting to do. It really feels like the first time the Israelis gave a shit was when Saddam tried to bring them into the Gulf War to break up the Coalition, when he was firing SCUDs into Tel Aviv. That's where the precursor to the Iron Dome (The Patriot Missile System) got introduced. Before that, the Israelis didn't give a shit when they invaded Lebanon, they didn't give a shit during the 6 Day War, they didn't give a shit about American warnings during the Yom Kippur War, I don't think they gave a shit when they rolled into Gaza.
If I had to place a bet, given their history, Israel warned the Americans that they were bombing Iranian targets 12-24 hours ago, and that was the first news the Trump admin got of it.
Probably not WW3, but it seems to be an extension of their war with Hamas.
Kirk and Poso were covering it
I'd be willing to bet this will probably strain their relationship with Trump.

no idea. iran just said they will strike back at USA for some reason so if that happens or appears to happens, they're going to get razed

LOL?
We've been funding Israel, including their military, for decades. We've been fighting false flagged wars, on Israel's behalf, for decades.
