He was shot, stabbed, punched, had his wife possessed, had his kid possessed, had his kid temporarily aged up a decade, was falsely accused of crimes by alien governments twice in separate episodes, killed, replaced with his own future or past self after being killed, shot some more, given a purple nurple by Jhem'Hadar, sent back in time several times, beat up during some of those times including once by Klingons and then interrogated about why the brawl started by Kirk himself, all the while being one of the like 3 people keeping the station from exploding on a daily basis because it was that badly built, filled with traps, and repeatedly targeted for destruction for countless reasons.

Still, him being married was probably a good thing in many others ways considering all the shit with romance plots that happened to single white guys like Paris and Tucker. Paris at least settles down with Torres but Tucker was just one disaster after another, including getting pregnant!
