Does anyone else hear lawyers licking their lips at the news?

ESPECIALLY in the EU where Ubisoft are based as they maybe shit at EVERYTHING else but actually have some of the best consumer protection laws.

The problem is actually enforcing those laws.

Nope, the laws actually favor the publishers, at least in the US. If the EULA says they can do it, too bad.

This dude has been on this crusade for awhile, currently trying to get real legislation to stop this, specifically in regards to Ubisoft killing The Crew. Very likely this Avatar BS will make his list too.

Sorry but Australia is the king in consumer protection laws and enforcement. The EU while it does have a set of consumer protection rights it's up to the 27 consumer protection agencies of the member states to enforce these. And who knows how interested the Fr*nch(where Ubisoft is HQd) are in enforcing the law against their big corps

There... there's an Avatar game?

Exactly how the rest of the world went. From just watching the game trailers, it’s reskinned Ass Creed: Wildlands with the color palate set to bright.

You could probably assume any big budget movie somewhat marketed to boys or young men will have a game made for it these days.

Like, LOTR still fun game, or ET the Extra Terrestrial ''burried in a landfil'' game?

Quality is often a crapshoot.

Emphasis on "crap"

When I was growing up yeah, now I dunno. Marvel Disney slacked on their tie ins, surprisingly.

These days, when a company wants some hastily-made slop to tie in with an upcoming movie, they usually make it a mobile game instead.

That practice mostly died about a decade ago, there aren't nearly as many direct licensed games as there used to be. Likely because they were mostly rental fodder and couldn't even break even without that industry.

There was and it was even marketed as a legit entry into "expanding the universe" instead of tie-in crap.

It was also generic Ubisoft slop that was just another copy of Far Cry 3 for the dozenth time, but this time with a cringe "oppressed native super good guy" PC instead of a psycho going against worse psychos.

It’s funny to me since it’s only just making the rounds. The game is so irrelevant that even bad press is just dust in the wind.

Game companies really do resort to "buy an ad" 4chan tactic.

I miss ''host your own servers'' so much.

The only advantage of master server requirements is that it allows the devs to crack down on renegade users such as hackers, spammers, sexual predators, etc. more easily, rather than just leaving it the responsibility of the server owners who themselves may be rogue.

Elder Scrolls and Beth Fallout will just let you bug out if an update causes issues that requires DLC to fix.

This is preferable.
