What were his 'bad takes'? Name sounds vaguely familiar but would ring a bell if he had some bad takes.
He was an expert in every topic that existed, and made sure to open with it.
Talking about planes? He spent 190000 hours in Microsoft Flight Sim and knew everything needed. Video games? He was developing one that was going to save the industry (thanks Dom for feeding his ego by stickying it for years). Politics? Only his enlightened "The Right Wing is worse than the Left because they annoy me more" take was allowed.
He was also a big believer in that a different .win community (ConPro I think) was going around and downvoting/trolling him anytime he got disagreement. Because only that could be the reason anyone disagreed with him on anything.
To paraphrase Taleb, the worst of the producers is superior to the best of the critics.
Never saw that. However, now that I remember who he was, he did get annoyed by me because I argued that women aren't as bad as he claimed they were.
Arrogance may be off-putting, but then again, so is being stubborn as a mule, don't you think?
Sounds like the Imp, but I've witnessed that firsthand.
And no one would be a critic if it wasn't constantly pushed in our face despite the clear lack of anyone wanting to be involved with it. Such as his regular essay posts about how he discovered basic game mechanics and the philosophy behind them, and how this was going to make his product the greatest thing ever.
Or do you turn off ad block to make sure to support Producers of Product at all times?
Calling it "arrogance" is to call the Woke "a little racist towards whites." He claimed to be an expert on all topics that ever came up, which is a far more annoying personality than a random guy with an ego.
Also the entire reason anyone even remembered his name to become "a thing" was because he spent the first months here going "this is why I hate the Right and think they are worse than the Left." Its something he dropped later likely because of how often people mocked him for it. But it was also a while ago.
I did double take writing it because I thought I might be confusing the two, but the two just have a weirdly large amount of similarities. If Imp was capable of containing his spaghetti whatsoever I'd even suspect it was an alt.
Yeah and it's funny, This place and Conpro have a fair bit of overlap, I'm an example of this, it doesn't mean we're brigading lmao
If you never saw that then you never talked to him, because he could find a way to bring it up while talking about literally anything. I once saw him seque into "dae le right wing is the problem" while talking about frickin used cars.
Lethn rarely missed an opportunity to criticize the right in any thread that was critical of the left - which is most of the threads here - and I rarely failed to point out thos compulsion. So you’re either blind or dishonest, and we know which one it is.
No.
Everyone who doesn't agree with current_horror is either blind or dishonest.
This is easily refuted by the existence of retarded lefty localizers.
The obvious one that comes to mind is the one u/Kienan highlighted here because a) this is probably what made lethn delete his account and b) Kienan does a good job of explaining exactly why lethn attracts haters. Lethn had a habit of getting hung up on the most arbitrary things, like insisting that if someone implemented code that was effective and simple, it was still bad because it was simple. He wanted people to reinvent the wheel for every single game and asset in their game.
He would often write out long paragraphs that implied clear conclusions, then act like he said something that meant something different, then agree that what you thought he said is in fact what he meant, but also you’re misrepresenting him, and also everyone is a hater, and also those downvotes are definitely a conpro bot network and not just people annoyed with me….
On a side note, he was probably the most prolific commenter and poster here for several months, and he wrote very distinctly. You really don’t remember this guy at all?
What’s more likely?
a regular and prolific commenter has no idea who Lethn was
Antonio is a dishonest, disingenuous piece of shit
LOL @ any regular claiming to be ignorant of Lethn. Idk why Antonio acts like he's an actor in some gay medieval court drama all the time.
There's your answer.
I just don’t get why he’d bother going to bat for Lethn.
The guy also could not let things go, I never became a hater but it was exhausting trying to explain how the pc mod community functioned and how sometimes people don't want to make and sell an entire videogame and just want to mod something for their personal tastes and he physically could not understand it.
Like I just want to add some cool enchantments and spells to Skyrim not reinvent the wheel and make an entire fricking videogame.
Considering he threw a tantrum about the existence of rebinding keys, mods probably were blasphemous to his mind.
He is very inconsistent on that statement, more so that he do not understand fundamentals of dev, since he insisted the need to use libs, when pushed so only approved libs by him is ok, haha
At first, I was confusing him with another guy, but now I sort of do remember him because I had a few interactions with him. That said, while he was no fan of me [/Trump], I don't approve of giving people hate or driving them off a forum.
There are many more objectively retarded people here.
He did not get driven off the forum except in that when he said something dumb, people told him he was being dumb. The worst you could say is that this thread maybe dances on the line of being unnecessary drama, but at this point he's been gone for weeks anyway.
This thread gave me the impression that people drove him away. The kind of person to cheer someone leaving is the kind of person to do that. Of course they should say it when they think he's saying something dumb.
He was arrogant at times and tended to ramble, but I don't remember him having particularly worse takes than what I've seen from many other people. I never really understood why some people seem to hate him so passionately.
It's sort of a "gradually I began to hate him" type thing.
Any conversation with him was utterly grating. Probably most annoying was his habit of arguing superiority from agreement.
You'd say something and he'd somehow manage to agree and call you stupid for thinking it at the same time.
Because, regardless of the topic, he somehow made it about himself. Particularly if he could demonstrate some previously unrevealed expertise.
He had odd and goofy takes, not necessarily "bad" takes. And almost any discussion he was involved with managed to "somehow" circle around to trying to stroke his own ego.
Not a bad fellow overall though. Just a bit of a derp at times.
Because he seemed to have very little self awareness lol. What a character.
My favorite one was his hate-on for Speed Tree, because it was pretty clear that he didn't actually know what it did/why it was used, but he spoke with such authority on why it was bad.
That is not a bad take, that is just something with which you disagree.
A bad take is in the simplest definition one that is "misinformed." If he didn't know what it did or why it was used, but still spoke with authority on it, then it is by almost every conceivable definition a "bad take."
Oh, so you were just a fan. Makes sense. Retarded birds of a feather.
I don't care about Speed Tree either way, don't even know what it is.
What part of "didn't actually know what it did/why it was used" did you fail to understand?

Nothing will top that.
I had forgotten the keybinding one.
It was really such a telling thing about him, that he could take something arguably agreeable and discussable (some people are overtly obsessed with keybinding to an unreasonable level) and make everyone come together to shit on him for trying to treat it like an epic dab about his superiority moment.
Oh, man. I'd almost forgotten his massive Steam hateboner, too. He could loop anything back to how terrible Steam is.
And some of those threads are major oof.
I like when he told me I was "obsessive" in one of those linked threads for saying I prefer being able to rebind my keys. "Prefer" is clearly some obsessive language!
Also, I find the utter hatred some people have toward "tradcons" as hilarious and ridiculous. Think it's foolish? Go for it. Think they're often not as "trad" as they want to appear? Go for it. But some of these people act like "trad" is some utter affront to everything they hold dear, and the tradcons need to be genocided off the face of the planet. It just seems weird.
This sentence right here is an almost perfect summary of Lethn, actually. He misunderstands and conflated like three different things all at the same time:
"Right wing bad" because he hates tradcons, and he just proved to himself that the group he already hates is bad based on this one post, and one person's actions. And then that people disagreed with him was all because he "made them uncomfortable." And he was right and brilliant all along. It really is a perfect Lethn summary.
The more lore gets compiled in this topic in one place the more the similarities with Imp continue to add up to a point where its starting to feel too coincidental.
Did he ever give his opinion on Fortnite? That might be the deal sealer for me.
He has a burning hatred for normies, multiplayer games, and more, so I'm assuming if he has an opinion on Fortnite it's very negative. Don't think it ever came up though, at least not where I saw it.
