This is from people who normalized weird plastic surgeries and Botox and think that stuff looks good.
And then ex-communicate anyone who did it out of desperation for acceptance and later wish they hadn't done it.
Did Dragon Age EVER have good looking characters?
I'm seriously asking as origins and you can argue a bit on 2 were limited by the tech, inquisition only had one and she had a kid when you meet her.
Compare it to bioware's other game Mass Effect and you can see confidently from 2 and 3 they DEFINITELY had good looking characters by comparison.
DA 1 and 2 did have pretty good looking characters. Morrigan is probably a lot of people's "goth gf" archetype to this day. I'd say it was pretty even handed in the fact that most companions seemed to appeal to some form of escapist love interest you could be into, both male or female.
I will still argue they aren't good games (Origins is very overrated imo), but character appearances wasn't one of their weaknesses. Which made it incredibly obvious when DA 3 was making sure to go out of its way to make them ugly. The same way that Andromeda was clearly using the ugly stick after the original Trilogy had legions of attractive female aliens.
I put morrigan as the only good looking one in inquisition, the pirate looking girl in 2 wasn't bad but there was some graphical issues that kept her looking better.
Lilianna, or however it was spelled, wasn't bad in DA 1. She just was up against hard competition from Morrigan so most people forget her (plus I think she showed up later looking less good).
And 2 had a dorky paladin (not romancable though I don't think) and a hot little sister witch on top of the rogue girl. The Blood Mage elf was cute too imo, minus the magic tattoo things.
Point being they clearly could make attractive characters. Which makes it obvious that they were intentionally not doing so.
Dragon Age 2 might be patient zero for female characters being deliberately made ugly. The female guard captain companion is the first instance I recall of obvious manjaw, and I remember thinking it was very odd at the time.
I didn't think she was that bad, mostly because she was so giant overall that it didn't stick out as much as it does on the dainty women they give it to now. And her entire character arc was finding a way to marry a man, which lol could you even imagine that now?
DA2 is filled with a lot of proto-woke, especially in the writing which is so fucking painful to even remember, but I didn't find the characters themselves very ugly.
Don't forget Meryl the elf being voiced by Gwen from Torchwood.
Gwen is that much of a cunt in Torchwood any time I hear her voice it makes me see red.
I'm still missing things out and that's before getting onto the rest of the cast who were also some of the worst people you can imagine being in charge of anything, let alone acting as the hidden line of defence against aliens and other potential world ending shit.
She 100% stood out as having a manjaw. It was a deliberate design choice, for sure.
I haven't played it in like 10 years, because its a fucking awful game in every way, so maybe I just wasn't as tuned in to notice those things at the time.
da2 had isabella the pirate chick though
that’s the part most gamers remember and hate, all the times it was pointed out what they were doing, no matter how obvious, they would just lie and hand wave. i’m glad to see these big woke companies fall apart
Dragon Age Origins was legit.
Everything after that is a skin suit.
Honestly it was the last Bioware game.
That Concord color palette with purple everywhere isn't helping matters either. The game is just straight up ugly.
The Concord ''troon paintbrush''.
Wait wait wait.
This isn't Elder Scrolls: Oblivion?
The AAA gaming industry is evolving but backwards.
Not long ago there were zoomers in a stream arguing whether Mario 64 holds up today. I don't think there will be much dispute by the end of the decade.
What was the consensus?

This is technically a different video.
Does this character creator have zippertits trender scarring or was it just a meme addition?
Yah. This is the one with the zipper scar feature.
