They honestly thought it was going to be a mega hit.
I saw some leak claim that they thought it was going to be the future of Sony's gaming division and the centerpiece of their brand. They were set to go all out with allowing the characters to do guest appearances in other games and whatever other seasonal events. They really believed that putting fat PoC special interests front and center was going to multiply profits and player interest exponentially.
I hope at least one talentless freak working there took its failure like a kick to the balls.
They thought this was gonna be a new Star Wars level IP. Goes to show how much the Sony HQ is huffing paint, anyone without a filter could've warned them, lol
How on earth is it that the people with authority to make decisions on how to spend hundreds of millions of dollars are this dogshit stupid? Running this shit by any middle schooler would have let you know this was an awful idea, but no, let's let people this fucking retarded have this much power.
