Gorgeous art, fluid gameplay and a compelling story. It left me emotionally drained when I finally finished it in a way that very few games I've played can claim to have done.
This is a game you want to go into blind and avoid spoilers for. Just grab it and get the full experience. It is worth your time.
It baffles me that the game doesn't have more widespread acclaim. Maybe that's just a byproduct of the ever increasing flood of indie games arriving on the market, all the gems get obscured by the shear volume of titles coming out.
Side scrolling platformer beat 'em up. It's really fucking smooth. They've got a bunch of special moves and a magic system that all just flow together perfectly. Plus you get the ability to customize your loadout just enough to tweak your playstyle but not enough that you can fully break away from the solid design of the combat system. I cannot say enough good things about this game. It left a really good impression on me.The game spent 15 years in production and it shows in the best way possible.
Nearly 50 hours, very simplistic animations but the combat is extremely fast paced and has some really nice, unique ways to go about it. Music is FUCKING AWESOME. Really reminds me of Ys at times. Story for the most part is very deep, involving the consequences of screwing with time.
"Gaiden" is a simple rogue-like dungeon. It's pretty much a full game version of the final dungeon of the main game, and stars a new character.
Anyways, it has a demo. Try it and see for yourself if you're hesitant on buying.
Honestly it seems to already be becoming the case. I'm genuinely shocked at how often I'll look at a Steam game and see it has a demo. Double so how many let you just carry over progress from it.
Indies especially are embracing it these days, making demo integration into the storefront so easy and prominent has been one of the best things steam has done lately for consumers.
I'm sure Lethn isn't the only game dev who recognizes how many hacks are out there shitting out garbage games. If they know their shit they'd be fools not to go out of their way to demonstrate they made a real game instead of some retard's first unity project pinned on the storefront like a crayon drawing on a fridge. The demos are the only thing that has got me to give a chance to, and buy, any hidden gems these last few years.
I remember playing a demo a long time back, was a solid game and had that little spark of something unique to it. Haven't cleared the backlog enough to get to the full game but I've had it in my "yes" pile for a long time.
I've had it on my wishlist for what feels like years, and despite multiple sales I haven't purchased it. Not sure why, but I think I'm not sold on the art style and animation. Steam reviews are bonkers positive though, so maybe give it a shot.
I first heard about it on this board.
Buy it. Buy it right now.
It is my game of the year for 2024.

MM, you might've convinced me... Still think I'll wait for another sale though.
Bought it based on your enthusiasm alone
Then my work here is done.

What's the gameplay like?

Alright, wishlisted. I'll give it a go once it's on sale next time.

I wish more games would return to the demo model, especially niche genres and stuff with novel gameplay mechanics.

Aaand sold.
Amazing game. I loved it from start to finish. You can feel the passion and the love from the creator for it while playing it.

Absolutely loving it so far, it’s like the Symphony of the Night sequel I always wanted.

Jank flash player gameplay and tedious dialogue. I noped out after 10 min.
