Does it suit "their" campaign? Who's the they here? I honestly don't know when they decided to pivot. I know a lot of media and prominent dems shifted pretty quickly and sounded a little performative, like they had time to sound surprised and heartbroken but rung insincere. At least to me it seemed more practiced and less sincere.
My guess is they don't have a canidate polling well so they run this out and if they lose they blame Biden and build up the next person.
