I don't even remember what they were all about. When Machinima exploded they got a bit of a spike in popularity, but I can't remember a single thing they've done.
Red vs Blue, back in the day. That was them.
Oh yeah, I remember hearing about that. That was like 15 years ago though.
There was also RWBY, some kind of anime-esque action series with cell shaded 3D characters. I never saw it, but it's got a large following. I heard the quality went down the toilet after the guy who started it died from an allergic reaction to a routine medical procedure, also they fired Vic Mignogna from a voice role after the cancel crusade was launched against him. Mainly what I knew that company for was their video game content. They got ahead on that kind of thing, their videos 10 years ago easily got a million views a piece. But they started self censoring, brought in 'talent' that checked diversity boxes, and their views steadily dropped. Last I checked their videos barely pulled 10k views.
Yep, that's what happened to RWBY. Tragic story of a passion project IP with a lot of heart. The battle scenes downgraded almost immediately after Monty Oum died, and when they decided to make a fun Hogwarts-esque setting into a boring quest to save the world, the writing died as well. Then the lesbian shipping finished it off.
Lesbian's squatting in the wreck of a world? Surprising.
That's the cover story, because the real one makes a certain person look really bad and they didn't want to be cancelled.
He was getting fucked up because his girlfriend demanded her cat live with them despite his severe allergy to them, and the hospital visit went south because he was heavily medicated trying to control his daily major allergic reactions. Its not super clear the exact chain of events because the story is extremely controlled to protect his girlfriend. That's why literally everyone says its a "simple medical procedure" in that exact NPC way.
So saying he died of "routine medical stuff" is like saying a kid died tragically in surgery while ignoring he was only in surgery because he was fucking shot.
Medical malpractice is the third leading cause of death in the US.
Yeah, but going into a doctor's office with an extremely weakened and struggling system because you are basically OD'ing daily on meds to try and combat a deathly allergy that you are trying to live with, because your girlfriend doesn't give a shit about your suffering and needs her cat, turns it from "malpractice" to "what did you expect would happen?"
why the fuck did he accept that instead of just breaking up with a girlfriend who clearly didn't care about his wellbeing. ?
Monty was one of those pure goodhearted naive creative types that do incredible work but are easy to take advantage of
Because he was a literal cinnamon roll too pure for this ugly world.
I used to watch this with my sons. Then it got boring, we knew exactly when the man died work wise.
Thanks for the reminder. I had forgotten a whole lot of this stuff. It was a tertiary thing while a lot other things had my attention, so I didn't look into it too deep.
My friend got me into RWBY. He said don't even bother with the 9th season because it's horrible and they wokeifed the characters.
Honestly, everything after Season 3 is an absolutely crapshoot. It is scraps of actually decent fights and potential lore, sandwiched between mountains of "What the fuck are you talking about?!" and dumb plots. Also a chronic case of the head writer (who is the most soy of boy you have ever seen) deciding that Team RWBY are always right, and giving any character who the audience decides has a point of RWBY being given the idiot ball to make RWBY right again (I will never forgive them for ruining my boy Ironwood).
Lolol perfect
The non-Monty parts of Season 3 were mediocre at best, sadly.
