There was an Onion headline years ago that was something like "Star Trek Fans Decry New Movie as 'Fun' and 'Watchable'" ... kind of has a point.
I did kind of enjoy the first JJ Trek, though it is dumb as fuck. I mean, the plot makes no sense, there's a magical ball of "red matter," and the character actions are dumb as fuck. But, it was kind of fun and managed to feel somewhat Star Treky. #2 was awful, and #3 was OK, but by then it was too late.
But yes, I ultimately agree, JJ fucked over the future of Star Trek.
As much as we all know its because of a decline in subs and ticket sales etc - I would love if it were more due to the Writers Strike - in as much as I love to see them shoot themselves in the foot - whilst it is in their mouths.
