I still prefer Japanese VAs and it subbed, their voices just sounded better. It's once in a blue moon I get English VAs that sound good enough to listen too, think the last one was My dress up darling funnily enough. Anyway this is just more incentive for more AI and to fire localisers which ironically if fully done probably shuts down Sony's California division, if they weren't so compromised.
It seems like the English VAs don't even try to convey emotions through their voices, all they do are accents.
Japanese VA industry is highly competitive and go through the same tough voice acting schools and auditions like live actors, English va are mostly Hollywood waitress/actress rejects that got the job because their buddy owns the localization company
Even the best Japanese VAs fail most of their auditions. Yuki Kaji, who his peers tease him for having 'main character' syndrome b/c he voiced a lot of protagonists, said he failed over 90% of his auditions. It's that competitive.
My favorite anime English dub is Black Lagoon mainly because it actually makes sense.
I doubt they took liberties with the script, the setting of Roanapur is supposedly an english-speaking setting realistically, and it's a truly diverse cast... of rotten gangsters.

I like my anime with japanese voices so I can't tell when the delivery is ultra cringe.
That's why I preferred Atomic Heart in the Russian language. Not just the delivery but overall the dialogue in the English version was way too goofy. Russian players said the Russian voice was cringe too but I can't tell.

English dubs suck, but English anime dubbers suck way more and deserve all scorn thrown their way so I fully support this guy.
I read Prompt Pirate's pinned comment where he implies he's only going to use AI on the insufferable dub VAs which I think is based.
Remember, all of the attention towards bad localizations started because the wokealizers bitched about The Ancient Magus' Bride using AI translation (accompanied by editors).
As well he should. And then perhaps pirated editions will get treated with the "AI voiced revisions" where appropriate. This is the warning shot: integrity or obsolescence.
