Oh my god, they're championing Brock from pokemon as some kind of 'safe horny' archetype for preverted characters...
They're using Rent a girlfriend in which EVERYONE hates the mc for just so pathetic as much as his bitch ex and Seven deadly sins which fell off hard because of extremely bad animation.
If you want good examples of well written perverts, Rudus from jobless reincarnation would be a great example, as he's a middle aged introverted former bullying victim reborn in another world so having that older mind in a younger body is going to create a perverted view (I think Aqua from Oshi no Ko had the same issue in that he was more interested in much older girls than his own age in school.)
Depending on how they are written, there's nothing wrong with them it's just the examples they use to prove their point are from series disliked for a reason.
I don't know if I'd class him as a pervert, he's more in the bastard category in that he doesn't mind using underhanded tactics to get what he wants, fully believes in 'gender equality' and if he was more a pervert, Aqua would've been able to manipulate him more than she has managed to in the series.
He just appreciates a nicely built woman and HAVE you seen Darkness??
Thing is, when I use bastard, I can use it in two ways:
The obvious negative connotation
And then a lot more lovingly like that guy you're glad your friends with because he can do the things you can't but need to be done. I put Kasuma here with Garak from DS9.
Correct that's the full name of the anime, Mushoku Tensei jobless reincarnation, the bleach guy mostly gets it as it's a man's mind trapped in a younger body so him being a kid obsessed with women's panties will have everyone on the outside going 'wtf is wrong with this kid?' but as he gets older and his body 'catches up' with his mind he actually isn't that much of a pervert anymore, just highly active given he has WIVES.
If anything I'd say he's stunted in his sexual development compared to other characters for a while, when Eris slept with him, that was his first time IN BOTH lives, her disappearing the next day after really damaged him psychologically and took accidentally finding Sylphy to mend (as he got ED as a result). Her on the other hand had no clue at the damage her actions caused.
As for pedophilia accusations, didn't get that in the story, he only had the panties of the maid and Roxy who were both a lot older than him, he wasn't interested in Sylphy when he was younger (he actually though she was a boy when the incident happened) and only when she got older was he interested, same with Eris. He showed no interest in his half sister on the maid's side despite her thinking her brother was a pervert. Rudus is different from Paul because it took the transportation crisis to shake him from being a pervert, Rudus had his previous memories keeping him an observer unless given explicit permission.
He's a pedophile. In the anime, it's a blink and you miss it moment, but the second episode shows him getting caught jerking off to kid porn while he misses his parents funeral, and that directly corresponds to him being thrown out of the house so violently and why he was suicidal.
In the novel it was originally that he was watching hidden video porn he made of his niece, but the author thought that was too far, and it was later edited to generic kiddie porn.
That said, the entire story is that he goes from the lowest of the low with zero redeeming features, to eventually become a much better person.
Did some digging and best I can find is that was true in the webnovel but not the light novel which is what the anime is based on so he was not a pedophile in the modern incarnation, it was changed to just regular porn. The scene in anime shows a leg of someone in a bathroom.
This happens a lot with Webnovels being more raw and eye-catching but then being more refined when a light novel is made. Look at Overlord and the difference in Webnovel and Light Novel in Arche
You'd think the monk from Inuyasha would be a "safer horny" than the breeder from Pokemon. Both overtly ask random women to wed them, but Brock is clearly driven by physical attractiveness, which I thought for these special snowflake tourists would be too much for them.
Even if you are Chad, you’d get arrested for half the stuff Mineta does in MHA/BNHA, that’s what they mean. Also default Reddit app gives me “related” subreddits because I’m in a fuckton of anime subreddits, and this came up. I just like seeing exactly what the other side has to say because I want to keep myself informed at all times.
Reading this a couple times, so I’m not misunderstanding anything, I’m understanding that holy fuck, TRP shit starts being applicable from way earlier on then I thought, but high schoolers hooking up, or in general hooking up does require the skills talked about by the manosphere, and we’ve literally had dozens of posts over the past few months stating that the male virginity rate for people in their 20s is soaring.
Introverted people and nerds aren’t the only people who’d complain about this sort of stuff, but I overall get your point that the people who didn’t get to hookup with others in highschool and college would probably the ones who’d complain the most, but as you’ve probably seen, that’s beginning to be the majority of people.
I have to sidestep drunk sex mainly because I genuinely haven’t thought that hard about it (especially since in that specific, certain states’ Romeo and Juliet laws doesn’t cover that age gap). I can however address the peeping shit, as imo, if we’re gonna say that certain MTF people are attempting transition to do things like that, and it should be a sex offense for them, I think it should be a sex offense in the case of someone like Mineta as well.
Dirty comments in school, I’ll definitely say that it depends on what the exact terms are, but overall I don’t think that counts. You asking that girl to show you her tits was literally consensual as she did so, so that wouldn’t even be a sex offense in the first place (unless there was an age gap, which I mainly mention because there have been instances of high school seniors getting charged with CP because they received nudes from freshmen).
Overall I get your point that you believe that complaints on Mineta are overblown, but I in general think that certain complaints aren’t as awful.
But I’ll just reiterate that modern society doesn’t allow for non-Chads/attractive + confident men to really get access to women to begin with, and it’s only getting worse as time goes on. I apologize for kinda just ranting, but that comment was pretty damn dense so I wanted to try and address as much of it as I could.
I guess I’m just giving them too much of the benefit of the doubt maybe? That plus I thought you go on the registry for literally every sexual offense, misdemeanor or felony.
I think the key showcase of Mineta is during the co-op work term thing: It shows him in a janitor outfit vaccuuming and cleaning up for Mount Lady, bemoaning that "this isn't the kind of roleplay I signed up for". He is standing next to a beautiful woman in spandex laying down stretched out, and he's just... doing basic chores, and nothing more.
He talks about the idea of mixed-group activites to other boys, who then enact those activities (group swim class, room showcase, etc), but notably, he never enacts those ideas by himself.
Mineta is an annoying character, but he literally does nothing, and therefore, does nothing wrong. A Mineta who was more attractive and less whiny... Would be an invisible background character NPC of a tier that would make The Eminence In Shadow green with envy. He... would occasionally chat with the sparky kid, make one weird hand gesture, be socially awkward about inviting people to check out his room, and note that you don't become cool just by being a hero.
Sex comedies and perversion as comedy (movies like Porky's and the dozens of copycats that were churned out) were common in America during the 70-80s until feminism gained control. Even American Pie was a throwback to that era and proved how popular those elements still were despite contemporary criticism.
One issue with the "pervert" character, among all the others, is that Japan is obsessed with cliches and archetypes. So often times the pervert character might be fine on his own, but after watching a handful of anime you've seen an almost carbon copy of him multiple times before. So what their complaint is is that they are fucking weebs who watch too much anime all the time, and they are making it the industry's fault.
Its the same with the Beta bitch MC. And the generic X-dere girl. They are usually fine on their own, but are reused constantly because, again, Japan hates deviating from the same formula for character types. So you can either watch less shit, or at least less shit in the same genres, or complain uselessly that a foreign nation making their foreign cartoons is making them for their foreign citizens.
I mean are they real perverts though? That word gets thrown around a lot. I’ve seen women call a dude a pervert for questioning the uglification of female characters
I think trying to look up girls’ skirts, sneaking into the women’s restroom to peep at girls and trying to grope them without their consent is unquestionably perverted, and that stuff happens in anime a fuckton.
Oh my god, they're championing Brock from pokemon as some kind of 'safe horny' archetype for preverted characters...

She's my type alright

The "Magnificent Bastard" tvtrope.
Jobless Reincarnation = Mushoku Tensei, correct?
What do you think of this? Linked the whole comment thread because I haven’t seen the show, but want the opinion of someone who did.

Nah Brock is their perfect guy since he's dependable, can cook and clean and is of high status (gym leader/breeder)
Their self delusions make them think they are 'beautiful' enough to entice him...
MC sucks and Ruka chan is best girl.

these are tourists, their lives and opinions do not matter.
None of those people had a good dad

I’m not in a lot of anime forums, but is this common?
It's what happens when you don't gatekeep women and effeminate men
People complaining about anime perverts? More so than a few years ago, but absolutely.
I mean are they real perverts though? That word gets thrown around a lot. I’ve seen women call a dude a pervert for questioning the uglification of female characters
And then don't mention female perverts like Nozomi, Chizuru from Bleach, Sanae from ikamusume, etc
I’m getting more and more into anime/manga so I still have a lot to learn
I think trying to look up girls’ skirts, sneaking into the women’s restroom to peep at girls and trying to grope them without their consent is unquestionably perverted, and that stuff happens in anime a fuckton.
Agreed. You see terms thrown around so much I just wasn’t sure but yea that is very perverted
Sounds like a standard day for Haruhi Suzumiya. She was an absolute menace.
No. Reddit rant boards and the likes are just miserable echo chambers of sex negative people who don't even consume the media they rant about.
