It's not a free market. The corporations are attempting to maintain market share by being protected with government regulations that crushes competition. The only company that can afford to waste hundreds of millions of dollars are political partisan make-work programs are the largest corporations with the closest ties to the state.
DIE can't survive a free market. DIE is evidence of a Command Economy. Corporations are extensions of government power.
Now ask yourself how many sole proprietorships can survive off of DIE. That's the difference.
Because the culture war is a diversionary front, while the economy is hollowed out? Blackrock-style firms replacing home ownership, Agribusiness pushing out mom and pop farms (via Bill Gates style land grabs,) and the consolidation of oligopolies into monopolies via cartels. It's not a coincidence that the OWS vs the 1% was followed by heavy sponsorship of intersectionality.
We cannot confront the architects of the economic order while we wage the culture war.
People are way late to the party on that one. About 70 years too late.
Who owns your home if you have a mortgage? The guy who bought the Mortgage Backed Security your lumped into. That's where all your interest payments are going.

Who owns the automobile fleet? Same people.

While I don't disagree with you, it is worth noting that Occupy included a lot of contrasting and "enthusiastic" ideological groups that frankly, as a general rule, can never get along with anyone with remotely opposing views.
And that's not including the well-known Fed involvement that added to disrupting things.
People have gone way overboard with this revisionist nonsense. Yes, OWS was greatly harmed by intersectional leftism. But it was always a bunch of commies.

But then I don’t think Jezebel shutting down is actually about advertisers pulling money for “brand safety.” The Overton window has been shifted to the point that there’s little difference between Jezebel and CNN. Their usefulness has come to an end.
