Texas Rangers remain only MLB team without Pride Night: 'Our commitment is to make everyone feel welcome'
All MLB teams have their own Pride Night to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community except one: the Texas Rangers. The organization explained why that is, while its fan base supports it.
As a life long Rangers fan this has been awesome! I’m so glad they didn’t cave to media pressure which as in reality a small amount of people. Maybe a lesson to other teams to stop listening to these idiots. Go Rangers! I watched the final out like 100 times. Demons of 2011 have been vanquished
Congrats man! Crazy how anything can happen in the playoffs. Rangers looked bad at times throughout the year then just steamrolled everyone. Just gotta get hot at the right time.
Soak it in; you never know when the next one will come. Hope my Indians can win one some day before my dad dies...
My grandfather was a huge Rangers fan and died in 2014. He at least got to see them make it to WS. I’m sure he was watching from heaven. Who is the Indian’s (not the stupid Guardians) manager now?
Well they definitely made him proud this time. Had to have felt good to take out the Astros too. Hopefully their reign of terror is coming to an end now.
As for the manager situation, I'm not sure. I kind of tune out after the season barring any major free agent signings. I heard they were interviewing some dude from the Brewers but idk. Kinda just hope they hire from within.
As a kid my first real awareness of the Indians was Major League and Bob Uecker
A great HOF speech. Guy was classic. I love Mr Belvedere but it didn’t showcase his humor very well
Terry Francona finally retired after this season
Oh yea!
I caught the middle of that game against the D
bagsbacks, who were getting absolutely RAILED.Congrats.
Thanks!!! Thanks to what happened in 2011 I was so paranoid that it could all come crashing down any moment.
Yea 11-0 on the road is impressive, and they lost the last game of the season which lost them the division. I will say your Orioles will be a scary team next year
The pride flag is the unofficial DNC flag.
All those other teams were flying DNC flags.
Even the "right wing" billionaires love Democrats. I think that says something. Dems are just as capable of distorting the market in favor of their friends. Just look at the Green New Deal (cum Inflation Reduction Act, a term I refuse to use primarily).
R's were never the party of business; they were the party of certain business types, and the most valuable company in the world any more isn't Exxon Mobile; it's probably Apple.
And I think that's exactly what happened. The center of gravity of money shifted to tech as Americans stopped doing physical things. And there went the influence.
America's economy is as fake as its money.
Yep. There's an interesting overlap with the concept of the petrodollar here. If you look at the countries as units, instead of individual people: The US exports some stuff; mainly food and IP. But it imports more. So then at some point we're paying each other with these dollars that mainly have value because people need dollars, with one of the main reasons for that being oil.
Some ESG group or activist is going to buy them and bring them in line.
Yea but they had Dubya throw out the first pitch so it's a wash
It's partly because he owned the team in the early 1990s, and is also part of the reason they didn't move to Tampa, who themselves got a team in 1998.
I don't like it either, and I know he'll get his. But I had to give full context.
I was unaware of this and was rooting for the sneks because they humiliated the Phillies in the most spectacular fashion. Handing the Phillies and their insufferable fans their own ass in another game 7 defeat in back to back years (WS 2022, NLCS 2023)
But, yeah that's great, glad to see the Rangers get their first and even more so now.
Every baseball game is Pride Night and all baseball players are gay. Them, with their balls and their long cylindrical objects and their obsession with chewing gum and scratching their asses.
I thought it appealed to black people more:
You hit an object with a bat, run as fast as possible to avoid getting caught afterwards stopping only at safe bases /s
Unironically, the reason the rate of American black people playing pro baseball has fallen is because youth baseball is like 50x more expensive than it used to be
Technically everything is 50x expensive as it used to be. If you go back far enough. What's unique about baseball or sports?
You sound like that "97% of men are homosexual" troll that used to be all over Yahoo's comment section.
No, 97% of men are heterosexual. The other 3% play baseball.
At least you usually don't have to touch anybody.
