Considering its a long running cliche that they do this with Kirby every single time as well, I think this is more of a Nintendo thing than a feminism thing.
No its definitely a feminism thing. They changed Peach for the Japanese version as well, and its obvious they are trying to make her like she was in the movie. Just because the movie did well doesnt mean people want Peach to be like the movie. The movie did well because of the non woke parts not the woke parts
FTFY
I see you've studied your American history.
I prefer the 2nd one. It's too much of a smug eye-cock, but its more towards an expression I'd expect when doing a complicated flying kick pose while wearing eastern gear. I expect some kind of confident smirk, a serene monkish flat expression, or screaming 'ki-yah' or some shit. Not a facial expression most like a shocked-ahego.
She looks angrier? She's doing a flying kick dressed in karate shit. Good.
Does she maintain the expression? Ok yeah it's a problem, it goes against her established character traits. But in that pose? It's fine m8
the kung fu master expression makes sense, but they also stronkified her other expressions, including the default princess face.
Yeah I'm not seeing the problem here either. If anything, left side looks like a low effort shop.
here's the entirety of the boxart side by side

Before she was full of wonder and excitement in the face of adventure. Now she looks like she can't wait to hurt people.
Also, she looks much less like Peach in the new arts.
What is "Princess Peach Showtime"? First I hear of it.
Peach-centric game where Peach uses costumes of different hollywood archetypes (swashbuckling rogue, noir detective, kung fu master, etc) to save the day. The gameplay they showed had peach acting like her traditional charming self in princess form, but the box art change indicates treehouse was buttmad that peach wasn't acting strong-independent-who-need-no-man enough.
the new art makes peach look like the cunt from the movie.
I have little opinion about this. It's true that the new expression seems to conflict with Peach's established grace and poise, but it might make sense contextually. It's also true that Peach's character in the Mario movie is specifically the reason why I have no interest in watching it.
Well, isn't this just part of a poster that displays all of her different forms and abilities? What do her other expressions look like on the full image? They might have simply thought that the frowny brows fit Taekwondo Peach better.
Because it does. This guy is a weirdo.
Looks more confused than angry to me honestly
The right expression is more suited to somebody doing a kung fu jump kick.
I don't know what new 'religion' will come about once we hit the dark ages, but I can bet you women will be returned to objects during civilization's re-ascension.
She looks confused.
So... they make a game where Peach plays dress up to gain her powers... But they think the problem is her facial expressions?!
Honestly this one gets a pass from me. She's performing a flying kick, likely attacking an enemy, not dancing. Being angry makes a bit of sense.
They've been doing the same thing to Kirby for decades, you wonk.
