The US pays the NATO bills so it can control NATO. Nothing about this arrangement is based on generosity. European countries are vassal states of the American Empire.
Yup, Mearsheimer says the exact same thing - that although the US makes pro forma complaints about the matter, it really is quite happy with European states doing nothing on defense, because it makes us beholden to the empire.
You don't know how vassalage works. The lord is supposed to provide protection (i.e., pay the bills for defense) - in fact, all the bills the vassals themselves paid were funded with the revenues from the land granted to them in fief by the lord.
So this is actually exactly the relationship of vassalage, except for the fact that Europe did not receive Europe from the US.
It's the US tax payer that is paying. Both for the original equipment and the higher energy prices. The US doesn't collect export tariffs on LNG to the EU.
At least under feudalism, the tribute went straight to the king, so if he had to pay for some public works the tribute would be used. Here it goes to the jews running the Hedge funds and corporations. None of it makes it back to the US people.
However, those LNG terminals are employing thousands of six figure blue collar jobs, and they are not unionized, something rare in modern heavy industry. Without countries buying up all that LNG, those jobs wouldn't be possible.
It still shows that they are woefully underprepared and to use gamer terms, are going to have to be carried. Your military isn't suddenly ready to the level that others are because you spend 2% this year. This graph shows decades of underinvestment.
Or they could do the logical thing and adjust their spending according to the tax revenue they actually take in, as opposed to drafting budgets that either will be lowered in the face of fiscal reality or be debt spending because you didn't hit your revenue goals.
And what does the government spend when they aren't printing or borrowing money? To say nothing of spending based on numbers they don't actually know yet. Especially with lockdowns seemingly eeady to come back in vogue.
OUR fucking money for the last several decades. The european NATO nations owe the US repayment if anything as well as paying enough to modernize their force on top of the usual sustainment.
It's telling that you think accusing people of being Russian spies left and right is normal. It's so normalized to you that it's like taking a sip of water.
But unlike you, I won't put an unflattering label on you because you act like that. I recognize your name enough to know that you're not some sort of bad guy. I'll just say you're misguided.

Yup. Trump making NATO states pay for their own defense was the most damaging thing that had ever been done to the American control of NATO.
Vassal States pay tribute to their overlords, not the other way around.
That happens via finance capital.

Back-to-back world war champs say "of course you didn't."

You're posting bullshit again. Finland's defense budget increased 44% the previous year. If it then falls by 2%, that's still more or less exactly the 2% of GDP that NATO countries are expected to spend on defense.
Interesting.

Probably as a result of not being in the NATO weapons cakewalk
Well yes, because your government sold that equipment to Finland back when the YYA Treaty was in effect.
Were they parasitic freeloaders when they were under the security protection of the USSR?

You can fix the defense budget high enough and let the rest of the budget float.
Or you can budget according to a budget. I know, crazy concept especially in governance.
Don't act like you give a shit about Finland contributing to NATO. If they spent more you'd be whining that they're increasing tensions with Russia.
NATO is not parasitism: it's giving the US control over your foreign policy in exchange for protection. Basically, becoming a protectorate of the US.
Chukna's Russian handlers sure are mad about Finland joining NATO.
What this guy posts is ridiculous as always, but still less so than "everyone is a Russian spy".
Less so?
Much less so.
You have a really messed up perspective.

I said no such thing. You're delusional.
Sure is weird that you believe I live in the US, much less in a NATO country. Do your Russian handlers tell you to do that?
