>Warning: Several of the conspiracy theories depicted turned out to be true.

But seriously, they're probably just upset at Mei Ling's chinese accent again. They even removed it for the Twin Snakes remake in 2004. It's not even played for laughs or anything, she just has an accent.

David Hayter talked about this.

They could have just used the same audio from the PS1 game for Twin Snakes, but here's the thing...

The PS1 game's audio was all recorded in a rush, in a bare-bones apartment building that had barely any soundproofing.

Were they to just reuse the same raw audio files, the GameCube's superior audio hardware meant the player would have been able to hear the traffic outside.

So EVERYTHING had to be re-recorded.

Hayter, to his credit, cut his own usual rate in half so they could afford to bring back every single actor to reprise their roles--yes, even Mei Ling was voiced by the same woman, she just chose not to do the accent for whatever reason.

The one exception was the Cyborg Ninja voice, who was now being done by the legendary Rob Paulsen, though the original actor still kept his other role of the DARPA Chief.

And besides, the Mei Ling character was born and raised in America. There is no reason she should have a Chinese accent.

Given that most of the voice acting in the game was supposed to have taken place over covert radio comms, perhaps they should have kept the poor quality audio to add to the realism.

Briefly listening to the CODEC calls from both games, the PS1 calls sound like what you'd hear from a radio, and the TS calls...don't.

The PS1 CODEC calls sound comparable to what I get from my modern cell phone, which is pretty good considering the game was supposed to have taken place in the early 00s.

In the industry, these are what are known as lies. Up there with the "we accidentally made Lara's boobs to big" story from Tomb Raider 1.

"You lie" is not an argument.

Here's the David Hayter interview. Still calling me a liar?

I am not calling you a liar. I am saying that you have been told lies.

Can't say you're wrong but I find it hard to believe they'd leave that up to the actress. Surely they had a director? At the very least I'm blaming at least two people.

How many more re-releases until she's replaced with a sassy black voice actress?

That will be in the Netflix edition.
